I stayed here for two nights in August 2025 and loved it.
The building is lovely and the rooms are certainly not a disappointment. I could hear an owl hooting outside and the stars were very visible in the clear dark skies
The bathroom is basically a wet room...or mine was.
Beautifully peaceful place.
Nice beers on the bar and not overly expensive.
The restaurant was great. Breakfast was just right and was promptly served. Dinner really was delicious.
I had the smoked chicken salad starter (see pic) and it was so nice I immediately wanted another one. Everything I had was freshly cooked with good quality, fresh ingredients. Of course the high quality is reflected in the price but it was not particularly expensive. If you want cheap, then go to McDonalds.
The staff were great. Courteous and didn't mind a joke.
I loved the place. It was an absolute highlight of my trip.
The downside is the phone reception which the hotel can't do much about but their WiFi worked well so I just made calls on WhatsApp.

Me and the family are staying near by.
Food was good, staff were very nice and helpful. Only thing is cocktails were a bit expensive.

Disgusting pub. Owners are clueless, their dog is constantly in the kitchen while food is being prepared.
Both owners are expctionally rude to customers that have issues, clearly have no people skills whatsoever.
They also refuse to pay their staff and employ people illegally.

We stayed here as a group for a local simulated shoot day and I was really pleased we chose this Inn to stay for 2 nights. The twin room I shared with my brother was clean, organised and with a superb modern wet room with rainfall shower. Plenty of hot drink options in the room also. Dinner was excellent given we were a group of about 10 with big appetites and thirst! The Host was very accommodating and patient with us. We will look to do this annually and will have no hesitation in staying here again.

I?ve just returned from an overnight stay at this lovely little hotel. The room was beautiful with a countryside view, and the food was absolutely amazing. The staff were friendly and helpful. Location wise it?s just a few miles from Sherborne and from The Newt, both of which made a great day out. It was my first stay here but I?m sure I will be back!

Dining out here for a last minute birthday treat for my husband really made our day. The food was excellent, the service attentive and friendly, and we will certainly be back. Thanks to all the staff, those we saw and those we didn't.

After arriving at 21:40 on a Saturday night, we were surprised to be told the manager was 'closing up', however the bar tender agreed to serving us one drink. Upon arrival of the bar manager approximately 10 minutes later, the atmosphere significantly changed.
We heard the bar manager rudely persuading 2 guests to retire to their rooms, before stating how he would be kicking us out next.
Given how we had just arrived, we felt uncomfortable with being rushed out and despite expressing our disappointment in service, the bar manager continued to have no regard for customer service and appeared more concerned about his 90 minute commute home.
Soon after we we relented, politely finished our beverages and were escorted out of the pub.
What we feel was once one of the best pub atmospheres in Somerset, which we have enjoyed numerous family and social occasions over the years has dropped significantly in our estimations.
We are so disappointed given the locality of this pub and doubt whether we will return.

Food was poor: inedible gnocchi which was rock hard, Eton mess without meringue and a synthetic strawberry sauce. Despite all this, very overpriced as well. Such a shame as the food used to be very good at this pub.
