We are in Portland for a short break and decided on the Eight kings for our dinner.
The staff are very attentive and friendly. From what I saw locals were in as well (so a big thumbs up from them) drinks were prompt- our dinners to a little longer than expected but the staff kept apologising.
But it was well worth the wait - yum

Lovely venue for a spot of lunch ?. Happy friendly staff. Lovely food sensible prices. Parking available. Main eating area light and airy. Smaller area for more cosy atmosphere.

Came here for dinner after a long day in Portland. The atmosphere inside is nice and the staff are friendly. Unfortunately, they messed up 2 of our 3 dinner orders (delivering the wrong burger type) and told us we'd have to wait again to get the correct orders - as we had waited 30 minutes up to that point we just kept what we had. Food was sadly not very good, with burger patties being flat and lifeless. Would have appreciated more action from them on getting us the right orders. It's a shame because the place is lovely on the inside!

Didn't try the food.
Unfortunately the place was busy and only appeared to be one member of staff trying his hardest.
Really slow service. Manager needs to do better.
