Only stopped for lunch. Really wish we hadn't. The food was inedible. We placed our cutlery on top of the uneaten meals and when the waiter asked the in been inevitable question as to whether the meal was OK we said it was not. After an explanation he went away and returned with a bill for just our drinks which was a few pounds. He apologised profusely and I told him to keep the change which was more than the bill. He seemed surprised, so I explained to him that his kind attitude had saved me much more and we left.

Really disappointing, overpriced, ordered the chicken Caesar salad, was told it didn't have croutons or dressing, just chicken!!! Went for two small plates at £8 each, halloumi fries and salt and pepper squid, disgusting freezer to frier rubbish. Friendly barmaid saved this from being a one star review.

Great venue for a show, lots of room for camping and caravans behind the pub. Plenty of inside and outside seating available, reasonably priced drinks and a good selection.

We pre booked a table that was not ready on arrival. The menu online was completely different to what was available on the the menu inside the restaurant and what was available on menu some things where not available. The guy serving us was great and understanding we ended up going else where which is a shame he seemed to be rushed of his feet he tried preparing the table but the kitchen bell was sounding for other people's orders he did not know what to do really felt sorry for him.

I orderd the pork board on 7th aug 2025,Thursday which they had run out of. Not really an issue,though disappointing. I then orderd the ribs in a bbq sauce. Thay came after more than 40 minutes post order and were very dry ,cold and without sauce. I returned them and was advised that they are meant be dry. The description on the menu distinctly said sauce, not dry. The menu did not mention they would be cold. I was advised that they could not supply me me more ribs as they too had now sold out. For my 3rd choice I selected a chicken ceaser salad. To my mind this is a chicken breast, bacon, parmesan cheese, ceaser dressing, salad and possibly anchovies. I recieved a chicken breast which was very dry and tough, on a bed of mixed salad and a dressing. I asked if they had any parmesan cheese. I was advised that they do not have a any......
Now I regularly make a ceaser salad at home. It always comes with all the previously stated Ingredients and is warm and moist. It is not a difficult dish to prepare and at £17 which this pub was going to charge me, not at all reasonable.
Unfortunately I did not eat this 3rd choice of dinner. I am not particularly fussy however i do appreciated valur for money and good service. The young waitress was nonplussed and dismissive despite me acknowledging that ion on this was her fault. i was offerd no explanation or apology and left having no dinner. My 3 friends also received meals that were like warm at best. Very very poor

Unfortunately they were very understaffed and it was a very busy Wednesday before Bestival. There were just two members of staff for the entire place and It was packed.
The food was okay, I had chicken wings and they were deep fried and very very bad. The fries were over seasoned and the kids couldn?t eat them. The burgers looked nice.
Camping was fine and decent pitches, loads of room to chuck a frisbee and really close to the Cove.

The outside beer garden is lovely, especially after a day on the beach. The food on the other hand was not good. The Caesar salad was just some freshly washed lettuce (there was more water in my bowl of salad than dressing), dressing tastes more like french dressing than Cesar dressing and all you get with the lettuce is grilled chicken breast. No other elements of what you'd consider a chicken Caesar salad. The fish and chips was massively overpriced and the batter was mushy, and chips were cold. You don't get any lemon or tartar sauce. We found it difficult to get the staff attention, and we clearly asked for a glass of ice for our cider and for a glass of water 3 different times and unfortunately we had not received either of those.

We have just left we arrived and asked if its possible for Sunday lunch The team made us welcome and showed us to our table 5 adults and 2 children adults had beef Sunday lunch with one having ham well the wait for the food to arrive was more than worth it half an hour.
The food was fantastic and and well presented the beef was brisket and melted in your mouth and the regular portion was massive my son paid an extra $1 and was presented with half a cow to sum up the whole tree experience including only paying 160 pounds for 5a adults and 2 children with a couple of drinks each 100/100 hopefully see you All again soon

Just visited The Red Lion Pub & Smokehouse, and I can honestly say it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The building itself is full of charm with a cosy, welcoming vibe, and the staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful ? great service all around.
I had the Pork Board and the Pork Pitta Platter, and both dishes were absolutely spot on. The Pork Board was a meat lover?s dream ? tender, smoky pulled pork, pork belly, and sticky pork bites, all bursting with flavour and perfectly cooked. Served with slaw and chips, it was hearty, rich, and incredibly satisfying.
The Pork Pitta Board was another winner ? juicy BBQ pulled pork tucked into soft grilled pittas, with a fresh side of chips, mixed leaf salad, and slaw. Everything was balanced and delicious, and you could really taste the care that went into the preparation.
Great atmosphere, excellent food, and top-notch service ? I?ll definitely be back next time I?m in the area. Highly recommend!

We went camping here last at the weekend as we wanted to visit dordle door. Was close to location, great campsite with clean showers and toilets.
The pub was fantastic great food we had two nights here with dinner and breakfast.
The staff are amazing ?
