None existent service. Upset toddler. Plenty of better tearooms to try.
To reply to the passive aggressive response I received. One of your colleagues told me to get in touch with you despite being closed. I did this via multiple methods, including but not limited to knocking the door whilst you were there. Myself and fellow friends then contacted you via different platforms over several days, maybe set up an out of hours reply if you don't want to be disturbed, however I personally believe that excellent service means responding to patrons in need of assistance even if your doors are closed and they have been told you'd be happy to help. If nothing else a general message to say now is not the time would be the bare minimum of manners
I do hope your ear ache is relieved now.
***Having experienced wonderful tearooms in the area who offer all round good service (and other reviewers seem to agree) I recommend the following establishments:
-The posh partridge. They have literally gone above and beyond for me in the past on special occasions. EVEN out of hours. Couldn't be anymore welcoming
-Ycs. Great
-Yalbury. Wonderful afternoon tea
-Minterne gardens tearoom. Amazing scones
-Bean on the green. Hospitable and great options

Disappointed to find door locked and curtains drawn. No sign to say why. Travelled over 25 miles as seen it on TV.

What a beautiful b&b with plenty of history. Owner was very informative about the old tea room and surrounding area. She was also the most amazing host, so friendly, kind and welcoming. Made us feel like we were at home. Breakfast was amazing with a great choice of cereals, pastries, yoghurt and then cooked breakfast. The cakes and scones are a must when visiting....tasty!
There is a plaque which says " come as guests leave as friends....we have definitely left as friends.

Sensational afternoon tea with amazing scones. We also really appreciated having several gluten-free options too.
But best of all was the service. So friendly and chatty with plenty of history about the building and town. Can't wait to return!

Stayed here for just the 1 night but my word the historical appearance has been left as alone as its 400yrs old in 2035!!!
Firstly the Suite room was absolutely massive with a 4 poster bed ,separate lounge with everything on tv including Netflix and Amazon and an actual BATH considering everywhere is showers nowadays!!
Absolutely Lovely chatty lady/owner was amazingly friendly and told us about the history of the building etc and the 17th century tunnels which are still there which she uses as a storeroom downstairs.
Shockingly quiet at night as the flat/room we had was at the rear of the property.
Well worth the money but the website we used (booking.com) doesn't give refunds as we had to cancel prior to staying but we rebooked soon after.
Only thing I'll point out is if you're unsteady walking around, take care as the building is old the floors are uneven and has a big step into the bedroom and 2 separate steps in the bathroom but otherwise it was lovely and we're definitely going to stay again soon!!
Unfortunately there isn't any parking available but there's a "top o town" car park literally 2 minutes walking distance away from the front door!!
Small restaurant at the entrance, as you'd expect from such an old building was lovely and the full English breakfast was perfectly cooked too ,but there's also fruit, cereal AND croissants on your table If you don't want hot breakfast
If I could give it 6/5 I would!!
Would definitely recommend!!!
Anazing historical place!!
Rooms: Suite has Big lounge bathroom and separate large bedroom with wi-fi and history included
Nearby activities: The keep
Historical Roman centre
Walkability: It's on the main high street too so its yards away from all places to visit

Beautiful, quiet little tea room not far down the London Road from The Keep, housed in a fantastic 17th century building, the decor is so homely I didn't want to leave... and the cake is to die for!
If you only visit one tea house in Dorchester, visit this one!

Only popped in for tea and a cream scone - lovely quaint place and the staff are so friendly. Even though we had never been there before the owner made us feel like regulars and chatted to us like we had know each other for years. Tasty, homemade, large fruit scone with just the right amount of jam and clotted cream. Highly recommend with parking nearby at the Top O Town car park. £7.25 each for drink and scone which is great value too

What a lovely and welcoming tea house in the heart of Dorchester. Whether you?re stopping to sleep, or just for tea / breakfast / food (we did both, one year apart! ?) , Debbie will make it a memorable experience! The house has extensive history and Debbie is well versed in it, so ask what interests you! We will stop here every time when we?re passing nearby!

Amazing experience ! I cannot thank the team there enough for making our lunch so inviting and personal. The food was exceptional and the prices were incredibly fair. If you are in the area pop in and you will definitely not regret it.

You've heard it before, and you'll hear it again... this is an experience you don't want to miss!
We had the pleasure of staying in this fabulously quaint Tea House on Wednesday, 22nd May. As we arrived after hours, we didn't get to meet Deb until the morning, however we had a flawless entry on arrival and when we opened the door to our 4 poster bed suite we just smiled!
What a gorgeous, almost 400yr old building.
Yes, it has a few quirks, like the bathroom which has a step down in to the basin section (watch your head), and then it has another step down to the bath that has a hand-held shower nozzle. but it's all part of the wonderful experience!
Come morning, after a very restful sleep, we headed down to the tea room for breakfast (which we didn't realise was included-score!). Deb met us at the entry with a hug! This set us up for the most wonderful interaction over a delicious breakfast (table setting was high tea standard) in a gorgeous setting.
We had the pleasure of having Mr Deb join us, and between all of us had the most jokingly good start to the day! Tales of smugglers, teases of tunnels underneath the Tea House, and priest holes hidden in the chimney. They kindly excused us Aussies for not knowing as much about Thomas Hardy as we should ;), filled in the history gaps, and even told us where Thomas's heart was buried! We enjoyed visiting that special place immensely!
Parking was not a problem offsite at the Top O Town Carpark - just ensure you park in the long-term section.
Breakfast consisted of fresh fruit and pastries, cereal, yoghurt, OJ, Tea, and barista made coffees, and that's all before being offered a fully cooked breakfast! Y.U.M.!
Steps leading up to the suite are steep, but we managed with a suitcase and backpack each.
The only complaint we have is that we wished we could have stayed longer!
Thanks Deb also, for the delicious cake slices you sent us away with. We will never forget your beautiful soul and your generosity.
Until we meet again, Pete and Bron

Such a friendly welcome we felt immediately at home. Quick attentive service and cream tea to perfection. Warm scones moist still ready for cream and jam plus extra water to keep the tea flowing. No eye watering bill just a fair price. Will go again and open to 5 on Sunday!
