This really is an excellent place to stay. Warm welcome from the team and Baxter the dog. Room was good decent size (we had a superior double). Very dog friendly and we were able to take our dog into the bar and the restaurant. Food very good and service friendly and efficient. Would definitely recommend and we will go back.

Absolutely wonderful stay for a special occasion, the four poster bedrooms were beautiful and the staff all so kind and accommodating, great food as well; both evening dinner and breakfast were outstanding. Even our dog was made to feel very welcome and enjoyed a sausage for breakfast! And the complimentary fudge - delicious ?Nearby activities: Lovely but muddy walk to the nearby Ilchester estate

Lovely stay at Acorn Inn with extended family for a birthday celebration - nothing was too much trouble for the staff and the food was uniformly excellent. Topped off by the sun coming out for a walk around the beautiful local countryside.

Coziest Inn I have ever visited. The atmosphere is incredibly lively, with families and children enjoying themselves in the lounge area. The restaurant, which comes as no surprise, is absolutely delicious and was fully booked in the evening. The staff are exceptionally kind and welcoming. A great escape from the hustle and bustle of London.

Valentine's treat, charming small but ingeniously appointed room, stunningly great food in the restaurant for dinner and a triumphant breakfast too. Bar is nice and buzzy with a good drinks selection. Some amazing whiskey too.

Now this is a pub worth visiting! We went here on the day Storm Ciaran came through. After nearly getting washed away at Sydling St Nicholas we took a punt at lunch. The best Ploughman?s I?ve ever eaten, all local produce and with a pint of Dorset Knob to wash it down. Lovely local white wine, excellent old school ambience ( wood burner etc.) and brilliant service from the Lithuanian born waiter. All the staff lovely, great restaurant ( by all accounts) I?m going back! Also on the Thomas Hardy Way!
