Improved a lot over the last couple of years, due to modernisation and improved layout.
Generally clean and tidy.
Staff friendly and helpful.
Lots of self-checkouts and scan as you shop and not enough people on tills. Expect long queues.
Home delivery very good though picking not as good as it used to be.
Dorchester really needs a bigger store now.

It's an average Tesco's Extra. Same as the rest and all have the same problem these days. The in-store online shoppers dithering about and parking their trollies in the way. Easy access by road, even though it can all get busy as. Plenty of Parking and a bright cheerful store to shop in I thought.

The 5 stars are only for Bev and James who actually took the time to help me as Laura on customer service desk gets 0 stars as she couldn?t care less about Tesco customers and has an appalling manner.

£52 spent then got parking ticket £40, would have been £70 without the 'good will'. So here's some 'good will' from me to you'.

Arrived in Dorchester early morning, Tesco not open so waited about 2.5 hours for it to open. Spent £52 then left. 2 weeks later got a parking ticket. So in return you can have this review.

This is honestly the best Tesco store I have ever been to, absolutely OUTSTANDING?
I had an awful day at work yesterday and all I wanted was a bottle of rum to go home with. I used self check out and I noticed as it was the 3rd time of it happening, every time you walk into self checkout the bottle alarms automatically. I got really upset about it as I couldn?t understand why the bottle never alarms when it roles along a conveyer belt but it does every time you enter self checkout!!!
Apparently the store has set this up due to theft and it does make complete sense now, I personally won?t ever be using self checkout ever again for that reason.
To the lovely and incredibly professional young lady working self checkout late yesterday afternoon, thank you for being so patient with me while I ranted at you. You should be promoted for how well you handled that. And to the young security chap with shoulder length brown hair and glasses, what an asset you are to that place. So professional, understanding and really well spoken to, you handled that situation so well and i thank you and the staff there yesterday for how well you handled that moaning customer and me being that person. I apologise and I send you my thanks

Unnecessary cruelty.
Tesco in Dorchester has spikes above the post drop off. This area is layered with spikes as a pigeon deterent. The deterent isn't working, as there were up to 6 pigeons up there the first time i walked past. Second time I walked past I took this picture and only two are seen.
This is clear cruelty to animals as the pigeons could get injured. Tesco could cover up the top of the box with wooden boards and paint them. This would achieve the same goal of deterring the pigeons without harming them.
Those spikes are dangerous to the birds.
A clear showcase of money being more important than another creatures existence.
Do better Tesco.
