Not the best store. Nice staff but not an attractive working environment for them. Their stock of Grace jeans hasn't changed in months. Many sizes out of stock and unavailable online.
I've returned things I've bought online and it takes ages as the label can't be scanned but the till operator has to almost use a magnifying glass to enter the very many tiny numbers! I've never seen anything so antiquated but I've been told it's common to all Matalan stores. Obviously the person writing the software for the tills has never had to use them. It's not good enough that this has never been rectified.
Matalan needs to move forward in so many ways as it's getting left behind.

Good price clothes, nice items. Would have left an extra two stars but unfortunately the state of the changing rooms were to be honest, filthy!!!!! Not just clothes and hanger tags etc in there and on the floor but so much dust and fluff all over the floor I had to brush off my jacket I dropped on the floor and my bag. Worse state changing rooms I have ever been in. I mentioned to the girl who worked there and she said it was customers as they leave tags etc. and they only get cleaned twice a week. So blaming the public. I took photos they were THAT bad. Shame as the actual shop looks nice and display etc. Also nice staff. Come on Matalan, basics!!!!

Really like this shop for some good clothes shopping, loses a star as we do not get to Christchurch often but always knew there were toilets in this shop, but these are now gone so could not shop for long as needed to spend a penny elsewhere. When you have an illness you often don't have a lot of notice.

Very disappointed that this store has permanently closed its customer toilet, instead of just putting an out of order sign on the door, presumably because nobody wanted to clean it. Usual attitude of our shopping centres to ignore something we all need at some point, even when shopping.

This is Matalan, I don't know why people leave bad comments about the quality thinking they will get e.g. Zara quality clothes for the price of £12 at Matalan, - you get what you pay for. Nice store inside, good homeware selection, great Sales department, everything looked tidy, it was a very quiet afternoon when I've popped-in. However, Customer Service at the till could improve and staff could be more friendly to customers. The lady at the counter who was serving me, Jackie, saw I was struggling with my basket and some of the items started falling out of it on the floor when I was trying to place it on the counter, but instead of helping or at least saying a word, she was just staring at me. At the end she forgot to remove the security tag off the cardigan I was paying for, therefore security gates started beeping when I was leaving the store. I had to take all the items I bought out of my bag, luckily I have had a receipt in my hand. The security lady was really nice, she kindly removed the tag off the cardigan and apologised for the inconvenience caused. Embarrassing situation and not the best experience. I wouldn't write this comment if the store was super busy with customers (e.g. Christmas rush, weekend), things happen and staff gets tired. But as I am working in Customer Service myself and deal with different clients and situations, I think there is no excuse for the experience I have had. You should never let your customers down and make them feel like they are unwanted in the store.

I really like this Matalan store , it's maybe smaller than others, but is always tidy and roomy, unlike some other matalan store a.I did get charged twice for an item, but didn't realize until I got home......so I rang the store, and spoke to tash the manager, and I've got to say, she was so helpful, and professional, just put my mind at rest, and went back to store, and I had the money refunded to my card!
