Rooms: Great room, great sea view. Clean and comfortable.

We were here in the off season, so I'm not sure how it is during summer. While we were there it was very quiet. Staff is friendly, rooms are somewhat basic (but in our case, with a great view of the seaside). No decorations, which gives the feeling they are not yet finished. Main spaces of the hotel look good. Room needed a little maintenance (paint, sealant, etc.).Breakfast is ok, but lacking if you normally go for cereals and fruit (which had not been delivered that morning).Location - use the grove street address to find it. Now the E. Overcliff Drive that is stated on the website. It is in walking distance of both pier and beach.

3 stars hotel many years ago. Looks old and used but it's clean.

Was kindly upgraded to a ground floor balcony room overlooking the sea, the view was incredible.Staff were really lovely, comfy bed, good breakfast, TV worked. Ideal quiet escape away.Reason why 4 stars, could of had vegi sausages for breakfast, bathroom needed updating, lift wasnt working (which is why they kindly put me on ground floor). No fault of the hotels but the zipzag path to the beach is difficult if you have mobility issues and the cable car is not working, but you can bus or drive in to town or the beach easily. Easy walk to beach and town if you are mobile.I would recomend staying here and will be back next year.Thank you for a lovely stay Cottonwood.

Rating is 3/5 as it?s a little tired round the edges, might be due to it being the end of the season. HOWEVER, the staff more than made up for it (5/5). Each member of staff we came into contact with were cheerful, hardworking and couldn?t do enough to help us. Room was clean, breakfast was delicious and we enjoyed our 2 night stay.

Was a little nervous about staying here after reading some of the reviews but all in all had an enjoyable stay here. We had a lovely seaview room with its own balcony right overlooking the gardens and prom and the room was clean and tidy with good facilities. There was no restaurant open but that wasn't a problem for us as we headed into town to eat. Bar area was open but needed to ask at reception to be served and the outside seating area was closed. Gardens were lovely and had some seating also direct access to the seafront and would have been nice to if had them lit up in the evening.Breakfast was a bit disappointing. Selection of cereals and toast but only jam or marmalade and the heated units that stored the hot breakfast items didn't really do their job and some items were just warm and the sausage was rather hard. Nice juice selection and tea/ coffee. We had a nice table by the large window looking out onto the gardens. Check in/ out was easy and the two staff we saw were friendly. Yes I agree it probably could be tidied up a bit in certain areas as it's a bit tired but overall we enjoyed our stay and if we could book the same room we would go back again

boutique/bu??ti?k/nounA business or establishment that is small and sophisticated or fashionable.Staff - Great, a lovely warm welcome to the place. Sadly ran by one guy who is super busy trying his best to accommodate all his guests, hence the 4 stars for him. He has been great?!The rest, not so great?.boutique conjures something quirky and trendy. If you want an old school British B&B then this is the perfect overpriced stay for you. Once you?ve paid too much to stay here your slammed with a bonus £10 charge to park the car you clearly have to use to get here, and that?s per night?. Nothing puts a guest off more than a surprise charge for simply parking a car.No lift - Broken at time of reviewBar - Open but run by the super busy guy on reception. No Restaurant- ClosedThe price charged doesn?t reflect the standard of the product given. For £250 for one night I?d expect the room lights to all work (flickering doesn?t count as working), the carpet to fit the floor space and without stains, walls without huge cracks in, radiator?s security attached to the wall, path panels matching the room and again without massive cracks in and the one chair in the room not to have a massive stain on it.Equally a questionable google review score of 4.1Unless I?ve been very much mistaken and have gone and booked the themed ?Student Let? Room I feel pretty ripped off?.!

Great stay and would definitely stay again. We had a family room and it is a great size with lots of storage and a good sized bathroom. Nice hot shower. Beds were clean and comfy. Rooms were presented well and cleaned. Breakfast was a mix of cooked and continental and again was clean and adequate. The hotel is very 'boutique' and out there with bright colours and random decor but enjoyable. Staff were friendly, but would have preferred some offered help with bags up to 2nd floor (4 flights of stairs) due to lift not working especially with young children and grandmother. Easy to check in and out and felt safe. Ideal location as only 5 mins to Bournemouth pier and 10 mins the other way to Southbourne which is a beautiful beach and not so busy. The hotel could do with a bit of updating and the outside is rather grotty which isn't a true reflection on the inside. The rooms have lovely views if you choose a sea view.

Advertised as boutique, hotel is adequateRooms: In need of some TLC, carpets ill fitting, fire door to the room big gap underneath allowing hall light to shine through all night, chips around sink, windows

For the second year we returned to the Cottonwood Boutique hotel for our annual Staff Day and again we were impressed with the work ethic of the staff. A great team ensuring our day ran smoothly. Welcoming and a great setting for the Airshow. Thank you and we hope to return next year!

The place is super old and needs serious refurbishment to live up to its name. It's a bit far from the station and the town centre which I did not appreciate. It's on the top of the cliff so you could get nice views if you have a sea view room but we didn't so this was lost on us. Also, being on top of the cliff means you don't have easy access to the beach - you need to find the nearest zig zag to get down. So not a great location, except maybe the fact that it is quiet. There was a mini-rain one evening when the guest in the room above us decided to have a bath and this ended in a massive leak - it was literally raining in the corridor in front of our door, I couldn't believe our eyes. The room was underwhelming - the furniture looks fairly new but very basic particle board and laminate grade. The carpet was dirty - there is no way you can keep a carpet clean when everyone is trampling all over it every single day with shoes. This is virtually impossible! The windows are super old and hard to open/close, not very clean either. The bathroom floor is linoleum which I think I last saw in primary school some decades ago. The breakfast was horrible - for £10 a person I found it an absolute rip off! No espresso or latte, just filter coffee! Some cereals, eggs, beans, pastries, juice from concentrate - the usual. No restaurant, not sure the bar was open or not. No lift. Overall, don't be fooled by the official pictures - the place needs total refurbishment and cleaning.

I only went to pick up a relative so only saw the bar and reception areas but both very well decorated with lovely replica antiquities.

Good location and spotlessly clean everywhere. Room was comfortable but a bit on small side. Lovely big bed and good quality bed linen but terrible pillows! Staff were few and far between but efficient when we found someone. We were disappointed by lack of restaurant and proper bar. The bar was open early evening (staffed by receptionist who did a good job multi tasking). Bar closed on the dot of 10pm for residents (open later at weekends but didn?t help us staying Sunday to Wednesday). Good value but will spend a bit more next time to get a proper ?hotel? experience.

We had a good stay at the Cottonwood, staff were friendly and polite. The room was clean and presentable, it did suit us and was well run quite and relaxing. It needs a refresh in part but that did not spoil our stay, we had value for money, and will be returning in October. Brian and Joanne
