We stayed at an Airbnb accommodation above the antique shop on the square at Beaminster, where there were several eateries, and we chose The Red Lion, because of its walled garden, and we were not disappointed. We both chose a local beer recommend by the Landlord, who was an excellent host. I choose the rump steak, and my wife selected the honey salmon, both were absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. There was an onsite art gallery in the skittle alley, which we had a look round and purchased a piece. Will give the place a thumbs up, and well worth popping into!

Our first impression was that the pub had not had a refurbishment for some time! However, we were given a friendly welcome by the lady behind the bar. Although we found the menu limited, we were delighted with our meal when it arrived - a large slab of delicious, home-cooked pie, accompanied by fresh vegetables and potatoes. The gentleman who served us was attentive and courteous and invited us to visit the pub's art gallery. This is worth doing, as it is housed in the pub's lovely old skittle alley and contains a large assortment of work by local artists, including mine host! Altogether, an enjoyable visit.

Fantastic Sunday Lunch with Exceptional Service
We had a wonderful experience this Sunday lunchtime, 18th May. Despite arriving 35 minutes late, we were greeted with such a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
The food was absolutely delicious?roast dinners, fish and chips, puddings, and drinks, all fresh, flavourful, and very reasonably priced. The service was outstanding, making the whole meal even more enjoyable.
Highly recommend for great food, warm hospitality, and excellent value

Very very surprised. The food was exceptionally good (well apart from the weird veggie burger) and the staff did an amazing job of coping with someone with tricky dietary requirements.
We were there mid week and pretty early evening, having the place pretty much to ourselves most of the time.
It is worth checking out the skittle alley / art gallery out the back.
Overall, we'd go back without hesitation.

Can't recommend this pub enough. Great garden dog friendly good value ? and excellent steak chips mushrooms tomatoes .goid value for money .and a. beautiful art gallery .where you can purchase local art .wooden sculptures of fossils schools of fish .very pleasedwith our art purchases .meal would definetly visit again .

Excellent local in the centre of Beaminster. Sunday drink and delicious pork roll with stuffing and gravy (only £8) in the sunny courtyard. Very friendly landlord and staff.

Well where do I start, a wonderful pub with great friendly staff. We arrived just before the kitchen was due to close, and the chef stayed later to cook us food. What wonderful service and wonderful tasty food. This is a hidden gem of Dorset. Would definitely recommend.

Nice place , nice staff but the food let it down. Unfortunately I will not be going back to eat there again.

The Red Lion pub is a fantastic find. The owner is so friendly and welcoming, the food looks and tastes really good and they stock Powderkeg gluten free beer alongside beers from the brewery .
This visit we had cheesy chips - best cheesy chips ever.
