This is a beautiful and charming pub set in a quiet rural village approx 15 minutes north of Bridport.
It has a large garden with pretty views, and during our visit was a riot of colour from all the wildlife friendly flowers.
The pub inside is deceptively spacious and set up for dining.
The food was delicious and beautifully cooked.
The landlord is a quirky gentleman who will remind you that you're in Dorset and so on Dorset time!
Higly recommend this place for a gentle and peaceful evening meal surrounded by the local countryside.

Had a really nice meal here, we arrived as a walk in and Bob was able to accommodate us despite being very busy!, the menu had great options the steak I had was very good. And definitely get the crumble!

Nice traditional local pub, with 'honest' food, nicely cooked. Garden with decent umbrella/shades & views. We booked a table so no wait. The landlord is cheerful & jolly ?. Service was a bit slow but we were chatting anyway.
Dog friendly section inside & obviously outside. The dog section inside is clean & comfy, but don't expect a 'restaurant' experience.
Not a major criticism at all but after a busy weekend a couple of the dishes off the menu were not available but easy to pick something else, shame 'fish and chips' 'ham' and 'paninni's' weren't available but it's a 'local place' so l guess they have busy times.
The deserts were fabulous, sadly the home made bread & butter pudding wasn't available.

We got there late, but nothing was too much trouble. Wonderful staff. Fabulous views. Great beer. Excellent food. Quirky and fun. In fact it was so good we had to go back there the next week. Fun, excellent landlord and staff, superb views, dog friendly and great food.

My wife and I had a meal at the Hare & Hounds whilst in the area on holiday. Lovely old school country pub with great food and local beers and ciders. Bob the landlord is a proper character, insisting on first name terms and everything is written down on a carbonated order pad which means talking and interaction... something which is sadly lacking in a lot of modern life these days. Well worth a visit if you're nearby. 5*

We stumbled across this pub while on holiday and absolutely loved it. The view outside is stunning, Rob was super friendly and welcoming and the food was the best pub food we?ve had in a long, long time. Highly recommend checking this pub out if you?re in the area!
