Absolutely loved the meal even though we didn't book in advance. The manager/barman even made room for us in the restaurant area . Friendly service by all and priced accordingly would definitely go back ,would definitely tell others to try ???? Thank you Skylark we will be back.

Great place to cycle to from Plymouth - outdoor bar and garden where you can leave bikes. Much easier on way back as largely downhill ?

For vegetarian/vegan..the mushroom stroganoff was delicious, served with rice and salad, couldn't finish it all.
Offers 3 different real ? ales
Beautiful setting, used to be two old miners houses, found out from the landlord..

We have just returned from an amazing experience. First impression was how clean the bar and restaurant was. We were a table of five with a variety of mains and desserts ordered and the team were professional yet maintained a sense of humour. I really can?t praise them enough. Thankyou so much for making the last meal of a two week stay so special!

4 of us had the roast today & it was delicious. A small roast is available too. One friend had the nut roast option & was very happy with it. We finished off with the Knickerbocker Glory & it was delicious.

We didn't eat there this time as were passing through had a drink and the staff were so friendly as we had been on a long walk and they offered to refill our water bottles next time will have food there as what other people had looked lovely

3 of us went here on Sunday 8 June for a roast, we were disappointed beyond words. Not sure if the chef was having a bad day. No crackling with the roast pork. Yorkshire puddings even put Aunt Bessie?s to shame. Soggy potatoes. Unseasoned.

First time visit for us today, 3 adults, 3 toddlers. We chose the skylark inn, due to it being advertised with a kids park and therefore considered it child friendly.
Once we arrived we were told, because it had rained the night before the garden and kids play area would be closed due to it being muddy. Frustrating as we?d travelled far, but thought we?d try inside next
A good old fashioned pub atmosphere -I asked if they had high chairs for the children, in which they did not but the staff convinced us that the benches would be adequate. We ordered food and drinks but realised about 5-10 minutes that food would not be suitable as the kids kept climbing on the tables (due to no high chairs) we asked twice to cancel the food and were told it wasn?t possible as the chef had started cooking.
As the children were upset we were worried about causing disruption to other customers. I mentioned this to the staff and the answer was you still have to pay for the food even if you don?t want it - keep in mind the food hadn?t even been put out on the tables yet and when we asked to cancel the first time it still took 10-15 minutes for it to come out.
We asked if instead of staying and eating could we have a takeaway box or a doggy box to which the answer was no. There was never an issue about paying but for goodness sake help us out in some way that we could enjoy the meal.
My complaints are based on the staff not empathising with us considering the stressful situation we were in. We feel they didn?t help at all in the matter. This stressful situation then meant we didn?t enjoy the meal at all.
Not advisable for young children, no phone signal or WIFI either.
