Sadly very disappointed, staying in the village , we wanted to eat locally, went last night to find only pizza available which we did order. Having asked for a menu it wasn?t explained we had to book a table in fact found the staff member neither welcoming or attentive. The pizza was ok!! Returned again tonight arriving early just after six , started to look at the food menu displayed on the wall, no staff behind the bar when we arrived and then we were asked had we booked , we answered no , just the two hoping we would be accommodated . We were told sorry fully booked!! Really there was a few tables taken and I?m amazed that there was little hospitality in fact the welcome was indifferent !! This type of service doesn?t warrant a good review and I can honestly say I?d never bother returning. Such a shame , the pub lets the village down.

WOW, what a find!! Arrived at Bideford bay for a week's holiday. The Bell had been recommended to us - and rightly so. 2 adults and a dog were welcomed by very friendly staff (sometimes when a 'new face' enters a local pub you feel a little uncomfortable - but this was definitely not the case). The menu was varied, with plenty of options to suit all tastes - even better was the fact that everything was home made - a rarity these days. The food took a while, but who cares when you get this sort of quality (and you are 'chillin' on holiday). My wife had the home made chicken and ham pie, I opted for the cod loin - both were superb. We never usually have a pudding, but felt it would be rude not to try ?. Again, the summer pudding and chocolate brownie were both amazing. We will definitely be back to try other options on the menu - just a real shame that we're only here for the week.

Amazing, fresh food which is always served with a smile. The menu is extensive and has something for everyone. The difficulty is deciding what to order Also extremelydog welcoming!

Went on a Monday evening and it was surprisingly vibrant, had lamb shank and pork belly for dinner, both excellent. Would recommend trying milk junket for dessert, a Devonshire delight!

Whilst on holiday we went for an evening meal. They were having a special Italian night. The crab linguine which we both had was excellent. The staff were super welcoming and we had a very pleasant conversation with them. Would highly recommend.

Really nice pub, the staff were super friendly, the place was bright and clean and welcoming, most importantly the pie was an actual pie and not a puff pastry lid on a dish

We took my brother and his wife, he is a vegetarian, for Sunday lunch on his birthday.
He opted for Vegetarian Sunday roast, which ended up being two huge Yorkshire puddings with vegetables, this was a little disappointing, however, when the waitress explained, we were able to add a nut roast which arrived promptly and was delicious!
At no point did we announce my brother's birthday, however, when his dessert was brought over to our table the two waitresses who had been looking after us had added a firework candle and sang Happy Birthday to my brother!
This along with totally delicious food all round make a lovely meal perfect and absolutely a day to remember!
