Fantastic food and fantastic service Nice atmosphere inside. The set menu is an excellent price. A very special meal that I will remember. A serious competitor to seahorse or Andria in Dartmouth!

This was a very pleasant surprise! the young chefs presented each dish beautifully and combined the flavours to a gastronomic supremacy. The taster menu was a real treat and enjoyed by the whole family. Very friendly staff and will definitely repeat the experience.

Great service and help from this Chemist. For someone who gets easily confused, the assistant, Hannah, could not have been more helpful. A real asset for the town. Thank you.

First time visit to Gather and I was blown away. A festive fixed price menu that can only be described as an utter bargain. Hake with a champagne oyster sauce and celeriac purée, partridge in an exquisite jus with poached pair and a delicious sprout melange, a mince pie and truckle cheddar, and a ganache filled choux with pannetone ice cream. Plus hors d?oeuvres and petit fours. £50. I kid you not. I mean really, this was beyond any expectations you can have for a Christmas meal. I wish I had had the time for the wine flyte to go with it. Bear in mind too this is an extremely young team - amazing professionals for their age. And the restaurant staff knew their stuff and were attentive and friendly.

Had hight hope hopes as we?d booked for an anniversary dinner but sadly we were left disappointed. After 40 mins our drinks hadn?t arrived and we had to ask twice for our drinks, along with getting some water for the table. Food took approximately 40 mins to arrive between courses and ranged from delicious to extremely average, to unpleasant. In fairness the staters and mains were nice when they finally arrived but the mince pie pastry was like concrete and the chocolate tort desert didn?t taste like chocolate. It was just texture with an acrid marmalade taste. We left before receiving the last dish as by that point it was 10:30pm and we?d been in there for 3 hours and our enjoyment by that point and just turned into irritation. The staff seemed inexperienced and inattentive which didn?t marry up with the ?fine dining? experience and price tag. We won?t be returning.

We wanted to try this restaurant after seeing it featured on 'Remarkable Places to Eat' on the TV. We booked early for a Thursday evening with a plan to have the set menu. Lovely simply styled restaurant with a glimpse into the kitchen. Two lovely girls waiting. We had a good look at all the menus but decided to stick with the set menu. Bread and amuse bouche excellent as was the cocktail and beer. We thoroughly enjoyed all the food and really could not criticise anything. We will definitely be returning.

The restaurant is comfortable, intimate and inviting - with a half-curtained window to the bustling street and a wide service window that provides glimpses into the kitchen where the inventive young Chef/Owner team are busy working their magic. A variety of menus are on offer including a Prix Fixe 2 or 3-course menu from £32.50. I opted for the £75 Vegetable Tasting Menu which featured 7 courses together with bread, amuse bouches and petit fours. By the end of my meal, I certainly wasn?t hungry and I felt that it really lived up to the anticipated ?fine dining? experience. Gather describes its offer as showcasing locally sourced and wild foraged ingredients from fields, shoreline, rivers and hedgerows and this yields a menu that, for a Vegetarian is an absolute delight, featuring all manner of flora and fauna including sea greens, herbs, nettles, mushrooms, nuts, seeds and flowers. Each dish was inventive? technically accomplished and artistically presented. Perhaps the greatest compliment I can pay these Chefs is to say that there is nothing ?typical? or mainstream about the food. All too often, I find myself paying high restaurant prices for food that is uninspired and as ordinary and familiar as one would cook at home for a mid-week supper. Not here. It?s impossible to anticipate what every surprising mouthful will taste like and everything on the plate has been carefully considered to enhance your tasting experience.

We enjoyed delicious, memorable dishes that were skilfully prepared to perfection. Amuse bouche were the best we?ve had this year. The hake dish was incredible tasty. Pork belly too. Desserts to due for. Service is excellent, just go.

A very warm welcome greats you at the door, and escorts you to your table, which if elegantly decorated. Menus are waiting for you. What an experience it was, the menu so inventive, and the food did not disappoint. Such a fantastic choice, beautifully presented, and delicious to eat. The young chefs are just amazing, their talent is immense. Loved both courses plus additional treats. It is a little jewel of Totnes, Devon. We have already booked another date. I feel we will be back again and again. The other amazing thing the chefs go foraging for everyday to pick those flavoursome additions to the meals. Hence the name "Gather"

Whilst the food cannot be faulted, the front of staff let this restaurant down. They are inattentive, lack knowledge regarding waiting duties and have attitude which completely ruins the experience. When we arrived there were only 2 tables with customers on, yet we had to wait at the front door as no front of house. When eventually seated, having finished the bread course, our plates were not taken away until our starter had been placed on the table. On another occasion the serving plates were taken away whilst I was still eating so felt rushed yet we had another 20-30 minutes wait until our next course. Replacement cutlery were only provided when the next course arrived and not in advance. The only time we were asked if the meal was ok was at payment and I?m not sure if we had said no they wouldn?t have known what to do about it. We were addressed as ?you guys?- very unprofessional. There were many instances where no staff were in the dining room to provide service
