Stayed at TLH last week on a coach holiday. We have stayed at the Derwent several times as independent travellers and once at the Toorak. We were upgraded to the Carlton. The rooms in the Carlton are more spacious, but we were very disappointed with the poor menu choice and service at dinner in the Carlton compared with the Derwent. We expected the Carlton dinners to be superior as they cost more than dinner in the Derwent. We will not be dining in the Carlton again.Food & drinks: very poor menu. No roasts, steak pie or sausages and salad choice very poor in Carlton compared to Derwent.

Rooms were clean, but a little dated, and a little on the chilly side. However that was well compensated ,with the food in the restaurant. Brilliant entertainment in the starlight bar with Kevin (we all cried with laughter ,at his show very family oriented) Brilliant swimming pools, for the grandchildren. Spar treatments excellent. And the icing on the cake .The politeness and helpfulness of all the Staff members, who were allways smiling especially the restaurant team. Will definitely return.Rooms: Require radiator bleed (winter stay) and some beds updated for comfort. And exterior windows painted.Nearby activities: Pleanty but many closed for the winter break .so internal activity at hotel was goodWalkability: Wonderful walk to the beach and harbour

Brilliant Christmas stay over 4 nights. The food was excellent with plenty of options. Dancing was great with Ballroom and sequence variations. Plenty of parking and great staff. Pierre gave us a wonderful mixture of fun and dancing. Already booked for next year!Rooms: Nice big room but the bed a little hard and not a lot of space in the bathroom.

I have been coming to fitness classes here for 8 years. Recently the parking machine has been out of order when I have recently parked. In one week I have received 2 parking fines at £60 each. I called the reception and spoke to a lady who had a bit of an attitude who told me that I can appeal it to the company directly. I think if you?re a business that wants people to come and spend their money with you, getting a private company in to charge customers £60 a time isn?t going to do you an favours. I won?t be coming back. Shame.

Nearby activities: Always something to do and good facilities at the resort

Food & drinks: Breakfast, good choice but hot food often over cooked because of heat lamps. Dinner, same 2 starters every night, food doesn't look appealing and poor choice of vegetables. Everything looks "brown'.

I?ve been to TLH ever since I was a child and have been going every year since, sometimes twice a year! I love this place very much and although there have been both ups and downs over the years, it?s always a place I?d call a second home. The staff are brilliant! Especially the ones at the Carlton hotel and down in the Aztec bistro and spa. The Carlton?s fairly new restaurant manager was a star and he was incredibly welcoming/accommodating to any queries or needs we had. Considering the fact that he?d only been there for a short amount of time, he was fantastic! I also went to mention the amazing Tish, who was the lady that helped me book multiple spa treatments for my family, down at the Aztec! Again, she?s fairly new but was wonderful at helping me and was super friendly! I cannot recommend this place enough for a great family getaway or even just a relaxing break! There?s so much to do both in the warm and cold weather! Excited to see what?s new to come for TLH :)

Didn't actually stay in the hotel. I went to an event that was taking place in the Victoria Hotel.

This was our 5th time at TLH . We got married at the Toorak hotel 29/7/2022 and we decided to come back to the Toorak with family and friends to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary . We were in room number 27 which has a lovely terrace overlooking the gazebo and gardens where we had our wedding. It really is worth paying the extra cash for a terrace room , we were however given the terrace free of charge on this occasion as it was our 1st anniversary. Our room was ready early which was pleasing after a 3 hour run on the M5. The room was very clean , tidy and spacious and lived up to our expectations , we had a welcome bottle of Prosecco so thanks to TLH for that. One little niggle about the room was that there simply arent enough hangers in the wardrobe for 3 peoples clothes. I did go to reception and ask for more but alas none ever came. The breakfasts were fantastic as ever with all you can really ask for. No complaints there. However evening dinner wasnt quite so good with not enough choice and cod served 3 times . If you wanted steak you had pay an extra £12.99 which is a bit of a joke as you have already paid for full board. TLH seriously need to reconsider this as its basically ridiculous. Sorry TLH but it annoyed us all. The bingo is fantastic as always with generous cash prizes, unfortunately we didnt win on this occasion. The kiddies entertainment goes on far too long in my opinion and should stop as soon as bingo starts . The evening acts in the Starlight lounge are samey samey so we went to the games room every night which we all enjoyed. The pools are as good as ever however the heating in the indoor pool has been drastically reduced due to current energy costs. I totally get that but its just too cold compared to days gone by. Despite all the issues listed above we still rate TLH as fantastic value for money . The outdoor seating area is brilliant and has loads of tables and entertainment most days, however the drinks are very expensive. The majority of staff we had to deal with were friendly and helpful as ever. Overall we had a great time and enjoyed playing pool in the downstairs games room , the staff were great in there, quick, friendly and efficient service. Would we come back to TLH again, ? Yes of course we would. Would we recommend TLH, again a big fat yes

We booked this trip as a relaxing break away and it did deliver on that part. The marketing team do a fantastic job in selling the holiday packages, making the complex seem quite spacious and lively. The food was poor with little options in the main restaurant. The decor is very dated. The clientele are of a certain age which unfortunately reflects. Rooms are very basic, bed was on a slant, tears in bedding. Strange smells on main staircase leading to the Aztec Bistro. The spa facilities were however amazing and the leisure team were fantastic along with the staff in the Bistro, where the food was of a much higher standard. The games room was a surprising bonus.

The swimming pool is great. There is a child's pool for them to swim in. And a 25m pool if you want to do more of proper swimming. There is a sauna, steam room and jecuzie to relax in too. They have also got spa treatments on offer and the fire and ice experience. Available for all abilities. Good carpark. Not far from the beach. Friendly staff.Nearby activities: There is a games room within the complex, good swimming pool, town centre, beach arcades. Nice gardens and walks. During the summer times there is a fun fair, boat rides and steam train rides.Safety: The area always feels safe and welcoming.Walkability: There is plenty of local walks to go on. Walking distance to the town, theater, cinema and bowling. Bus and trains within walking distance to.Food & drinks: There is bars and restaurants nearby the hotel. And also within the hotel. Respected and reasonably priced.

Value for money with entertainment and good facilities, one big thing that's let's this place down is the cleanliness around the outside pool and bistro area, tables not cleaned glasses etc not cleared and the cushions mouldy, obliviously due to not been cleared at the end of evening. Overall this hotel is great for families and couples and would return. Rooms basic but clean.

What a great pity, glorious sunshine (June 2023) and the outdoor pool is closed to guests with nearly all of the sunbeds out of reach. We were told the water had to be tested every day for 3 days but there's personnel here to do that. Still another week to go perhaps they are praying for rain.
