We were very impressed with this Hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our short stay here. The staff were very helpful and worked so hard. We attended a function attended by over 100 guests, all enjoyed an excellent meal with piping hot food for all and it was all delicious. It is fair to say that the bedrooms were a little tired but spotlessly clean. We were lucky to enjoy a sea view from our room. It?s worth the supplement just to enjoy looking at this part of the English Rivera!Walkability: It is a level walk from the Hotel to the Town Centre but there is an excellent Bus service which has stops by the Hotel.

A old style hotel with nice sea views. We had originally got room 3 which had one of the outside lights shining into the room and made it like a night club. When we spoke to staff they already knew about the issue and said it was waiting a blackout blind in the room and let us move with no problem. Overall breakfast was lovely, rooms clean and staff helpful however could do with some modernising in the rooms

This was my second stay at the hotel. Impossible to fault it for value for money. My room was big and very comfortable. The bar food was excellent, as was the beer .The full English breakfast is superb.

We had just left Plymouth and the ferry in a storm - it was a fierce night. The hotel welcome was friendly and efficient- an oasis of calm after our journey. Supper and breakfast were delicious.

The actually hotel is quite old however the view makes up for that, it's a beautiful sight from the window or balcony, I seen dogs inside so I assume a dog friendly environment too :). The staff was friendly and nice. Room was clean. Shower and hair washing products in room and tea/coffee. I would recommend for the view alone.

Friendly staff and excellent food but the week's trip was marred by the fact that a few of our group were told they would have to move rooms at the end of the week due to another group having reserved their rooms. It wasn't confirmed until the Thursday that, after I complained, my husband and I could stay in our room but the others still had to move from Wed/Thurs for the remaining one or two nights of our stay. Totally unacceptable.Nearby activities: Torquay town a 15/20 min walk away or 5 mins on the bus/in a taxi.Bus stops going in both directions right outside the hotel.Food & drinks: Wonderful choice of starters, main course and desserts every night. Plenty of rolls/butter on request too.Lovely cold and hot buffet for breakfast. Plenty of toast and butter on request together with selection of pastries too

Popped in for drinks with a friend. Reception staff welcoming. Staff around the hotel said hello with a smile. The hotel is beautiful. The grounds and views are fantastic. I enjoyed my afternoon there.

Firstly the staff at the hotel are lovely. That's where the pleasantries ended unfortunately. We were initially put into room 19, we had paid extra for a sea view and I had requested a 'nice room with a sea view which was also dog friendly' I actually joked on the phone when booking that not every hotel will supply nice rooms for guests with pets - I was told not to worry and we would have a nice room. We were visiting for my birthday so I wanted something special hence wanting to be right by the sea.Room 19, the glass unit has blown in the window so you cant see out of it.The decor is incredibly dated and the bathroom is a sage green suite which hasn't been maintained for many years - nothing like the advertised rooms/ bathrooms on the website. The room was a dog friendly one but the carpet was covered in dog hair - if expected it to of been vaccumed (I wouldn't walk around with shoes off)We had paid £800 for 4 nights so I asked for an alternative room due to not being able to see the one main thing I'd paid for (the sea!) We were then moved to room 30. Exact same room but without a blown window. The carpet again was covered in pet hair, the bath lined with caked on soap scum, black mould all over the bathroom, the single bed was so soft I fell off every time i tried to perch on the edge and the double was hard as a rock with springs sticking out of it.Mystery stains on the walls in the bedroom, cracked tiles throughout the bathroom and the water pressure is horrendous, it took over 20minutes to run a bath *after I had been out and brought cleaning supplies to clean it myself*I didn't want to complain further for worry of where we would be put next, the staff said the rooms were 'lovely' both on arrival and when I requested a room change, I'm not sure if they have to say it or that is their standard but I didn't want to risk being moved somewhere worse.Downstairs the path at the side of the hotel a room can be seen which I only presume is storage, a broken blind shows the room stacked high with rubbish posing a huge fire hazard.Food - breakfast staff are all really nice and pleasant, fresh toast and tea and coffee. Unfortunately, the hot was soggy and luke warm, bacon didn't have a hint of crisp and the hashbrowns were verging mash potato. The pastries were hard on 2/3 days but were better than nothing, and we had paid for the breakfast, so wanted something (we didn't eat on the last day)Due to the breakfast being disappointing we chose go eat out to eat at lunch and tea time.No fault of the staff's but I wouldn't recommend staying here, it's a health and safety nightmare with the cleanliness issues and some of it can't be rectified with a clean, it needs major refurbishment works. We paid £800 in total £200 a night and genuinely feel that even at half that price we would of been robbed of our summer holiday as it simply wasn't worth it.Lesson learned, it should of been a red flag when they weren't fully booked in Ausgust!I have left feedback for the management via their feedback forms and hope they strongly consider the much needed improvements!Rooms: Extremely datedNot cleanLike being in a saunaBlack mouldBroken tilesWay too expensiveSafety: Fire hazard - storage rooms piled high with rubbish can be seen by guestsFood & drinks: Breakfast was poor

I come here at least twice a year and it never lets me down, the staff are so amazing and nothing is ever too much trouble, I had one of the updated rooms this stay and I must say it was really fantastic! Food as always was especially good along with the great range of drinks available. The best views in the area looking over the bay. Already planning my next stay. Thank you to all the amazing staff at the Livermead Cliff

Another great time at the Livermead Cliff. Nothing is too much trouble for Anthony and the team..The staff agreed to a number of amendments to our stay so our daughter could enjoy the experience. She struggles with noise due to her needs and these things made a massive difference to us as a family. Special thanks to Anthony, Kerry Amy and Andrii..Nothing was too much for them. Been coming here 15 years and will continue to do so for years to come. Thanks as always Dean and family.

First, we got room no 33. It was an awful room, nothing like the pictures at all. It was tiny little, with a small double bed and nearly no space for anything else. Te room was decorated in awful colors, probably in the 1960-ies. But we didn't complain. The toilet was about 100 years old, and it wouldn't flush down at the first or second try. Then I complained to the receptionist, and she came and helped me to flush down. We went to bed, but couldn't sleep because of massive traffic noise right outsidethe room the whole night, that made it impossible to have the window open. The good thing was that it was easy to wake up when the fire alarm by mistake alerted the guests at 04 AM. The next morning I discovered that it was hardly any water from the shower at all. Then I went to the receptionist again and told her that I hadn't slept at all this night because of all the traffic noice, and I desperately wanted another room. Luckily, I've got it. So, I moved into room 65, which is a very big and pleasant room, with a modern bathroom.

Generally OK, good location, but inside looks like stepping back in time a bit, definitely needs updating. Most modern room is the ballroom downstairs. Staff were helpful and welcoming. Breakfast was a bit limited but overall the same kind of standard as a Premier inn.Walkability: Only about 15 - 20 walk mins into the town

Review is for a Wake held in the lower function room with access onto the terrace. Buffet Food and service all good, Bar a little pricey at £3.15 for a coke. Nice big space with plenty of light.
