My daughter and her boyfriend were accused of trying to buy underage alcohol by a security guard on Newton Rd, Torquay at 7.25pm on 26 August 2025. This was based on a lie of overhearing their conversation about buying wine and beer. This was a lie which made my daughter cry. They were followed around the shop, continually harassed. They were profiled because they're teenagers and my daughter is mix raced. I was with them and considered the security guard abusing their authority, intimidating and looking for a conflict.

Lidl is a reliable and affordable store, but their lack of halal meat and frozen parathas is a significant oversight. As a growing Muslim community, we expect to be included in the store's offerings. This exclusionary approach is disappointing.
