I ordered myself a Happy Anniversary Victoria sponge cake to be made here, having read many positive reviews about the cakes sold. I paid upfront and was confident about my order, based on the interaction with the lady serving that day.
Imagine how I felt when, on collecting it, I realised Anniversary was mis-spelt!! The staff were obviously embarrassed by this, a variety of excuses were voiced and they undertook to correct the spelling somehow. I waited a while, in not the best frame of mind, and eventually they brought it back with a newly decorated top which was acceptable. I expected a partial refund but was given a 2nd cake that was near its best-before date.
I would add that, although the sponges were pretty good, both cakes were seriously spoilt by a lack of adequate filling, therefore tasting dry.
So a rather disappointing experience I?m afraid.

Great food, amazing service, scrambled eggs are amazing.. wouod really love for them to add omelettes to there breakfast menu tho!

Stopped here with our dogs for a cream tea, it was gorgeous!!! Probably could have just done with a bit more cream ? ? staff were fab and checked of everything was ok, great service! Thank you!

We had breakfast here today and the food was great but unfortunately the service provided by the older lady was not very professional stating it?s not a kids place but the food was 5*

We been having a Devonshire Cream/Tea for the past 10 days, in 10 different cafes, since arriving in England. We have found the quality much higher than that in Australia. We would rate Mrs Gills Number 1, out of a very 'classy' field. The food and service were top rate and the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff first class.

The ideal place to go for a lunch / afternoon tea. Both booth and table were options available for seating, with a variety of cakes and menu options to choose from. Cakes were made in-house and paired well with a coffee. Thank you to the attentive waitress and waiter who served me, it made for a pleasant dining experience ????

Lovely service, thoughtful food, underwhelming portions
The service was great?staff were really friendly and helpful. I ordered the burger, which was fairly small, but it was tasty and clearly made with fresh ingredients, just like the coleslaw on the side which I enjoyed. For the price, it makes sense when the ingredients are locally sourced.
I also had a small piece of cake which, while underwhelming in size, was redeemed by its flavour. The coffee was quite disappointing?it was small for a ?medium? size and unusually bitter. I asked for a latte, but it felt more like an Americano with warm milk. The ice cream, however, was very delicious and fairly priced. I had the strawberry and clotted cream.
In total, I paid just over £20 for four items. I was happy to support a local business that values fresh produce. That said, the portion sizes might be better suited to their regular (older) customer base.

What a lovely place we have just found. Only popped in for a quick coffee with hubby but we both ended up having a panini which was delicious, with a lovely fresh salad garnish (no limp brown bits of lettuce!).
All the staff we saw were so friendly and polite and Michelle, the manager, communicated with the staff just brilliantly, very supportive and kind, whilst keeping a watchful eye and giving gentle guidance to a new young starter. Really lovely to see such a young team doing such a wonderful job. It was spotlessly clean too. We will definitely be popping in here whenever we come to Tiverton. Well done to all of you!

Went mid week service was prompt and were seated quickly. After a short while our server took our food and beverage order. Drinks quickly followed. The burger I ordered was plump and juicy accompanied with a beautifully toasted roll. The chips were hot and crispy. You could tell everything was cooked fresh and with care. I finished with an Eton Mess sundae which could easily have been shared by two if a couple visited.

Slow service. Very underwhelming food. Burger was tiny. Tasted ok but as advertised as locally sourced, I was expecting a quality type burger you would find from a local butcher. This was a 3 or 4 oz burger and lost in the bun. Husband had ploughman?s. Nice shop ham but nothing special, cheddar cheese and no apple as advertised. Again. Ok but both could have been much better with quality ingredients
