Went in to ask what I could give as a gift for someone, and even with a really busy cafe, the lady owner could not have been more lovely Absolutely top notch service. Beautifully presented box and delicious cookies.

A hidden gem in the lanes of Tavistock. Many of the cafes in the centre of town were rammed. This is an oasis of calm and the food was exceptional

Mime Café is a fantastic spot for delicious food, whether you?re popping in for coffee and cake or sitting down for a proper meal. Tucked just around the corner, it?s well worth seeking out. The staff are incredibly friendly, and it?s a genuinely dog-welcoming place too. With seating both indoors and out, it?s a lovely place to relax whatever the weather.

by far the best cafe in tavistock, I know because over the last year we've tried them all.
the food is gorgeous, homemade quiches and cakes to die for using local ingredients to support suppliers in the area
the kids platter is a great idea, our two absolutely loved it.
the coffee is amazing, and a proper sized cup full as well.
I travel a lot across the SW and the food and drinks here are really good value.

My husband and I ate lunch here last week. Sitting in the sun outside eating the most delicious food was such a treat. The food we had was really outstanding. As a bit of a foodie running my own catering business I find it really hard to eat out as I'm often disappointed. Not at Mime. I had the perfect wellness bowl and my hubby had the sausage roll with salad. We were having such a good time we stayed for coffee and cake! Thank you for making our trip to Tavistock so good.

Being at the far end of a small alleyway off of the main street you should be doing everything you can to make your business stand out. Well you did on our visit on Thursday 11th April 2024 at about midday, but not in the right way! On entering your cafe we were greeted by staff behind the counter with blank miserable faces that couldn't be bothered to smile or acknowledge any of us. We sat ourselves down at a table that was in need of a clean ( covered in bread crumbs) next too the only other 2 customers in there. We sat there for about 2 minutes so one of our group got up to find a menu at the counter and said hello to the woman behind the counter who completely ignored her ! We waited another couple of minutes and got up and left. Don't expect staff to jump when we walk in, but there is no excuse for being ignored and staff looking miserable.

On the plus side it?s a small but cosy cafe, service was good though not overly friendly, the coffee was very nice and they allow dogs. There is a large display of cakes and savouries at the counter which looked good but we were there for breakfast. Ordered the large cooked breakfast which was very expensive at £14, as opposed to £9 for a smaller version. Not only was it expensive but it wasn?t large either: whilst it had quite a few items (bbq beans, tomatoes, mushroom, egg, ?sourdough? toast, sausage, bacon and sweet potato) all apart from the tomatoes were pretty small. A single sausage, 2 very small rashers of bacon, single mushroom, very small quantity of beans (no bad thing as they were a strange vinegary/sweet concoction). Nicely cooked to order but I dread to think what the smaller version was like. The sausage was not good quality, very much like a cheap supermarket one and the bread was quite a long way from a decent sourdough. I know it?s been tough in hospitality and costs have gone up a lot but this was the worst of all worlds, expensive, not great quality or quantity for the price. Other half had a bacon sarnie which was again mean on the ingredients an expensive for what it was (about £8 I think). Left feeling a bit ripped off I?m afraid and wouldn?t go back.

This was our second visit and couldn?t fault the food. Great choice and fresh delicious food. Just wished we lived nearer as we are in Dorset. Highly recommend a visit here.
