Lovely old rickety shop full of character with helpful pleasant staff. Advice and help given freely, any book ordered in if required. Not just a great selection of books but upstairs Vinyl and CDs to peruse as well.

A wonderful bookstore with plenty of books, very cosy athmoshere. The Store looks quite small but we were surprised to see such a huge amount of books! It was quite chilly inside though, otherwise we might have stayed longer.

If, like me, you find a traditional book shop an irresistible prospect, you will love visiting Tavistock. The historic town?s independent bookstore, The Book Stop, is one of the country?s very best.For one thing it?s cosseted within an ancient building, all poky spaces and crooked angles, which somehow adds to its appeal. Perhaps it?s the sight of all those books lining the walls of such an old place that helps create the right atmosphere for an hour or two?s browsing.Venture inside and leave the modern world?s cares and philistinism behind, for this is a place of quiet and culture. One spread over three or four floors (I forget) so there?s bound to be something here that suits your tastes.Whether it?s the next bestseller, a children?s first read, a hitherto undiscovered local author or something worthy from the non-fiction shelves, you will find what you want here.

Service with a lukewarm welcome from a young girl at the counter must be my face,, what is it with this part of the world. Tory town i guess.I might be too common for Tavistock. Even a carrier bag was a bit of an issue.Ah, well. I think both people in the shop viewed me with suspicion, that's called prejudice where I come from honey, I have money to spend. The shop itself is really well stocked book wise, but where I was hunting at the top flight of stairs for records. (lovely little older world building) Heads up its just repressed on teh top floor, current artists amd the odd but of older RSD represses that can be bought as originals for a fraction of the price, I can never work that out.

Attended record shop day 2023. I understand its only a small shop, a shame there wasn't more of the releases available, no hip-hop artist and I know there was at least 4 different artist release stuff for this day.... Never mind I got THE PRODIGY's release which was the one I most wanted.....
