This is in response to the garage owners childish comments and blatant lies. My original review is below and hopefully will encourage future potential customers to perhaps look elsewhere!Calling me a Karen because I wrote an honest review is childish and unprofessional but that probably sums the owner up?You DID NOT discuss headlight adjustment and the charges with me until AFTER the MOT, when I was paying, so please don't lie because that was the first time we spoke. Also for your information I'm not an expert but I am a retired apprentice-served mechanic so it's pointless trying to say that headlight adjustment is anything other than an extremely simple and quick job. Personally I doubt you even did the alignment, just an easy way to charge customers extra and no way for them to know. Reading through other customer reviews, headlight adjustment seems to pop-up a few times!?As for the comments about your waiting room and toilet, they were observations. Yes I had got shorts on (always do) but I didn't say I was cold, just the room was very cold.Finally, admitting you overcharged me and telling me to "get stuffed", well what can I say.....grow up?***My original review***Rip-off!! Avoid at all costs.Failed MOT for headlight alignment, which is fine, but then proceeded to adjust them and retest without consulting me, even though I'm sat in the waiting room?!?I know I should have checked the alignment myself but it's never been a problem in the past. Live and learn I suppose.Charged me a total of £80.05 (including the £45 MOT fee) so £35.05 to adjust alignment??? Absolute rip-off.You should NEVER do paid work without asking, and that charge for a 2 min job is ridiculous! If they had told me I'd have done it myself rather than being ripped off, even Halfords only charge £15.Also the waiting room was freezing cold and the toilet had no toilet paper or hand towels.

Avoid if possible for peace of mind, but if you are desperate to choose this place for an MOT test, ensure they ask for your approval before starting any work. Otherwise, they will proceed without your consent and overcharge you. If you question why approval wasn't sought, they will rudely claim it was a minor job, while charging you double compared to other well-known garages.

This is a prime example of why you shouldn't ignore negative customer reviews. I found myself at this garage because it was the only available one in my area. However, my experience was anything but satisfactory. My MOT failed, and I was assured a quote the next day, but I waited a full week to receive it. Despite my almost daily calls and their promises to get back to me within hours, I was continually left hanging.In the end, I received an absurd quote, and the earliest available appointment was three weeks away. They charged me over £630 (including £330 for parts and 4 hours of labour). In sheer frustration, I sought services elsewhere and paid less than half the price, a total of £100 for parts and 1.5 hours of labour. I would go so far as to label this experience a SCAM!Additionally, I strongly advise always seeking approval for minor work. They charged me £25 for a simple headlight alignment (Halfords does it for £15).Edit:I pity this guy. I shockingly read his fully made story. Neither of us was aggressive or yelling toward each other; we were both quite polite, actually. He is either mentally ill or intentionally lying to discredit his unhappy customers. He had a camera installed on his premises. I would be happy if he is willing to publish a video of my visit, which will show who the liar is. If you read his previous responses to other customers, you can realise that he is making similar stories, mostly depicting aggressive, yelling customers.

I was originally put off by the reviews of this garage, I couldn?t get in anywhere else, so had to risk it. I urgently needed to get a mot, so that I could work. The whole of Exeter has vast waiting lists for MOTs. Dean and his wife were very friendly, I waited whilst my car was MOTed, which was about an hour. I was charged £80 to get back on the road and could breathe a sigh of relief that I can get back to work. It was about as pleasant as an MOT can get, I have no complaints whatsoever. Thank you for getting me back on the road ?

Fantastic service. I visited yesterday for an MOT that had been organised by the seller of a car I purchased in Cullompton recently, as part of the sale.I had to cancel my original appointment at short notice because my wife had gone into labour the night before and I knew I wouldn't make it in time.The replies on Facebook Messenger were quick and helpful, offering me the opportunity to re-book at a later date. I then messaged late in the afternoon a few days later and I was able to fit into a slot the next morning.The seller of the vehicle had already had to cancel the MOT he had originally booked, so the flexibility was really appreciated here, they were understanding and really helpful.On arrival I handed over my keys and went to the waiting area which was comfortable and pleasant, then shortly after I was told that a small amount of work was needed to pass the MOT, which could be done on the spot for a small cost.Shortly after the car had passed, everything was paid up and I was driving home within the hour.I'm not local to this garage but the service was excellent and I appreciate the value of good feedback. My experience was quick, professional and courteous. If I was closer I would use again without question. Good local garages are difficult to find.

Do NOT go here!!!We recently had our car MOTd and Serviced here. Over £1700! My Husband asked Dean several times for a break down of the cost for the work when he spoke to him and each time he said he didn't know yet. I have worked in a garage and know full well you provide a quote on all work needed, rough labour time and parts costs and provide this to the customer before to gain permission before work is carried out. Dean went ahead and completed all advisories without consent to do so. We did approve tyres and suspension arm but we didnt approve brakes or wiper blades-£70 for wiper blades seems very excessive in itself especially when we weren't even aware they were being done! Along with the brakes!I have queried with a few garages and shown them the invoice since and all have said it is extortionate! They also said the invoice is very poor in itself with no break down of labour or parts. Dean didnt specify what he did in the service or provide a service sheet (we received a blank one after booking but no completed sheet). He didn't even specify tyre sizes or labour costs.Not only am I disgusted at the cost but the service provided was poor. Dean was late turning up on the Tuesday morning when we were asked to drop the car off at 9.30. We understood when the next day he said work was needed and he was waiting for parts (Wednesday) but to not hear anything on the Thursday (2 days later) until my Husband called him at 4.45pm to be told the parts had only just arrived and it would definitely be done on the Friday. Again, my Husband called on the Friday just to be told it wasn't completed as Dean had another woman hassling him constantly for her car. He advised it was ready to collect by 9.30am Saturday morning. My Husband told him we would collect at Midday as my son had football. We then get a phone call that day at lunchtime to say it would be 4pm anyway! We get a phone call at 4pm to say it still wasn't completed and Dean was out getting a part. 8pm that night my husband could collect and was flabbergasted to walk into that cost! Dean clearly prioritised other vehicles above ours time frame wise and left us with a courtesy car that wasn't suitable for the amount of time we had to have it-it could barely go up hills.Since then my Husband has spoken to Dean regarding a complaint email I sent. He has admitted he prioritised other people's cars before ours because we had a courtesy car but he admitted himself it wasn't a good one. It wasn't sufficient for the time we had it. Dean took my husband approving the tyres and suspension arm as permission to do all advisories which was not what was said. He admitted this error after my husband said how poor the communication was and how Dean never called. It was always my husband having to chase for information. My Husband had no choice but to pay to get our car back but had to pay an extortionate amount for work we did not authorise to be done! Dean said he believed we wanted 'a clear bill of health on our car'. This was not the case at all and was never discussed or authorised.I would not recommend here at all. I am expecting a response denying everything I have said just like I can see on all other reviews but I can categorically tell you this is all true and I'm absolutely appalled. Avoid at all costs!*Update* The response I have received is exactly as anticipated after seeing previous review responses. Your courtesy car was a disgrace when we collected it and was absolutely filthy inside. We left that car in the same state it was given to us and its funny you now mention "a scratch". As for "keeping us safe" that does not give you the right to do work that has not been discussed and yet again as seen from previous reviews recently this is not the first time you have just gone ahead and done work without discussion and then expected payment-this is clearly not a one off.As my husband said to you on the phone you did not communicate with him-he clearly stated to you he had to keep calling you a

Lovely man but price for service and MOT went from £189 to £455 as added fuel additive and ran car changed wipers and adjusted and adjusted headlights. Did not even ask if I wanted all the wipers changed.Service: Oil change

We had our car MOT?d here at short notice, we used the pick up service for £10 which is a godsend when you have 1 car and work!Great service, friendly and explained the work we needed and why, they even worked late to complete the car MOT, thank you!Highly recommended!

Unfortunately, it seems there is a bit of a hate campaign going on with these reviews.I had my MOT done this week, nothing but a positive experience.The lady was lovely and welcoming, chatted to me, took me to the waiting room which was really nice, offered me a drink before getting back to work.The guy did my MOT and came to tell me what needed doing and thoroughly explained everything in normal speak.I checked the going rate for the work that was done and it was the bottom end of the going rate so can't complain.The MOT was done properly and my appointment time slot was kept to so I'm one happy customer.After I paid, I asked for advice about my next vehicle and the mechanic took time out of his work to talk to me about it and answered all of my questions.I highly recommend Town and Country Garage based on my visit. Very professional, really nice people, good service and well priced. Thank you!

Booked an MOT with a days notice and owner was very helpful and informative. My car had a problem in the morning before I arrived bit with a quick call I was on the road after some great advice. Excellent service and will use again. I was kept informed during my MOT and I am very pleased. Will use again and definitely recommend

AVIOD THIS GARAGE AT ALL COSTS !!!! Have just watched a recording of the owner of this garage squaring up to my son when he questioned him about the extortionate bill he wanted to charge him. He went to another garage and was told the work he quoted for was not needed for his MOT. So he asked for a refund as he had also done a job that was not authorised by my son and had charged him . Absolutely disgusting behaviour

If you take your vehicle here, you will be lied to, overcharged and met with intimidation and aggressive if you complain. Says a lot about a man who can't handle a simple customer complaint without losing his temper.

Deans unprofessional , avoid at all costs , I took my van in for an mot , when picking it up I had 2 packs of empty space rider crisps and one full one in cup holder (not there when took van in ) and got a speeding ticket in Tiverton on dates van was booked in , when I questioned him he said as an apology I could keep the full pack of crisps and have a free air freshner with a picture of a kangaroo on ??? Not sure how this is classed as professional, he seemed to laugh and hang up the phone , will be taking this to correct authorities ...
