Very well located. Super friendly staff, service. And you can have fish every day and not repeated.

Hotel faces the sea. Beware of rusty railings. Issues with the room re hot water, leaks and narrow staircases, etc. were fixed prominently.
Safety: Pay extra attention to rusty railings, ceiling leak, water pressure, heater, etc, especially when travelling with elderly people and young children.

Felt as if we were part of the family. Wonderful relaxed safe and very comfortable.
Rooms: Our room No. 219. was adequate for a standard with a back of house view. However, we did think the bed itself could do with an upgrade. Too bouncy. Also the duvet itself was heavy and flat.
Nearby activities: sea, promenade and nice shops
Safety: Felt completely relaxed.
Walkability: straight out of the hotel, and your there. Where you want to be. By the sea and shops.
Food and drinks: nice food
Noteworthy details: lovely decor.

If you like service of a bygone era, you will like this place. It is very sedate and traditional. It is very clean and presentable
Rooms: Clean and comfortable

Stayed at the hotel. Which is very nice. Excellent staff.
Didn't have a Seaview but room was good and lovely bathroom and comfy beds.
Food was good with wait on service. Unfortunately I and my companions will not return to Sidmouth. The town is a ghost town after 5.30 and the pubs close early. There is no entertainment in the hotel or in the town. Once you walk around the town in the day, that's it. Just charity and gift shops.

This is our favourite hotel and our 3rd stay. We like it because it retains the charm and character of a Victorian seaside hotel whilst at the same time having the necessary modern facilities. It's spacious and well sited in the town centre and on the seafront, it's very relaxing hearing the lapping waves on the shingle whilst dropping off to sleep. Our room was large and the bed comfortable and had period (not 'ikea') furniture. Staff were friendly and polite. Be aware that becau se the restaurant is large, you may have a fair wait for breakfast to arrive after ordering
Rooms: Spacious room with a seaview & lovely balcony
Walkability: Right on the esplanade

Only went for a Folk Festival session but it's a lovely welcoming place.

Room was a little dated and tatty. Towel rail burned me multiple times. , cupboard smelt musty. What annoyed me the most was the hospitality and the extremely moody staff at reception. They were extremely impolite and looked very angry for some weird reason, maybe because I wasn?t from the area or something. It?s a half decent location but the reception staff need some happy tabs or something, the wrinkled lady was especially obnoxious

Decent hotel with a good location. Sadly it?s let down by an average breakfast and extremely rude and moody front desk staff. The very old looking lady with glasses and a wrinkled face seriously needs to learn how to talk and treat guests. Extremely moody, rude and and aggressive behaviour let?s the hotel down

Enjoyed a short 4 night stay. Staff, friendly and accommodating overall excellent. Rooms were tidied each day but not necessarily vacuum but left presentable. Location right on seafront. Only a few minutes walk from the town, with its selection of shops etc.
Meals (breakfast and evening meal) are excellent, with a good choice each evening. Quite a mazie of corridors on upper floors as the building was once two hotels. Lifts available. Chilled water is available in the reception area. Didn't get the opportunity to use the spa treatments.
Rooms: Our room had a sea view. Suited our requirements for a short break. Tea/coffee making facilities, hair dryer. Sufficient sockets for home electrical goods as well as charging points for phones. Wardrobe and drawers for storage. The hotel unfortunately doesn't benefit from air conditioning, though a fan is provided. The bathroom/ shower had toiletries provided.
Nearby activities: The town is literally minutes away with a selection of coffee shops. Small supermarkets Morrisons Local, Tesco Extra and Coop. An interesting Department store, Fields is worth a quick visit. A number of charity shops as well as arts shops.
