I needed a half-hour break and food in unfamiliar territory. Within that time, I was served and happily consumed perfect gammon, egg, chips, peas, and beer. Friendly, prompt service at great value, even though the tiny bar was very busy. I was offered a quieter area to eat in.

We moved to the area and found this tiny little place to be the heart of the community. The menu is not huge, but Pete JR takes enormous pride in his work in the kitchen and produces, beautiful scratch made meals. His Dad works behind the bar and supplies a great selection of drinks, with friendly smile and very dry sense of humour. Honestly, we can't fault the place or the family. They really have helped make the village, feel like home.

Had a very delicious, beautifully cooked roast dinner, and all the trimmings. Great service, delicious roast beef. So tasty. All served perfectly hot. Great puddings. Friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Thankyou

A beautiful building in a wonderful country village, very nice and friendly locals and without doubt the best, most professional and wonderful staff who strive to keep to make you welcome and catered for. Brilliant

The Half Moon Inn, is charming. We stayed one night. Food. service, atmosphere excellent. Oh yes, the £110 room charge quoted strangely rose overnight to £140!. A "misunderstanding"I was told.

We stayed here for one night in July. There was a warm welcome and our rooms were clean and comfortable. The food was fresh, home cooked, exceedingly tasty and very reasonably priced. The beef brisket was amazing. Breakfast was also good too! Can not fault the place. Plenty of safe free parking for our motorcycles. Would definately stay again!

Stayed here whilst doing the Devon Coast to Coast cycle ride. Friendly welcome and a beer when I arrived. Good beer, well kept. The room was spacious, with a comfy bed, well stocked tea and coffee making facilities (and biscuits) and good shower. So far so good, but then I went for dinner and things got even better! The food was absolutely superb, with some interesting options on the menu. service was really good too. Next day, the breakfast was of course top notch. Fantastic find and will be coming back again.

Excellent accommodation, we booked a superior room, was large!! Large ensuite with bath and separate shower cubicle. Food and staff very good. Quiet at night, highly recommend. Pub in square of small village.

This lovely pub was very local to our holiday cottage? and what charming people that run it too . Great choice of food, from venison stew to steak platters and other home cooked delights not badly priced. Choose to eat in the ample restaurant, or bar area , or take it outside to the benches overlooking the pretty village square. Although fully booked when we arrived Friday evening, the landlord kindly rung around other locals , to check availability for us four adults with one child- so it would be rude not to book with him for Sunday evening anyway. Wish we had more pubs like this in our area.

A lovely old Inn set in a beautiful quiet village square with plenty of tables in the sun. The rooms have been redecorated and upgraded and are very comfortable. The food is excellent and the owners and staff are welcoming and friendly and will do anything to help. The Inn has 8 miles of trout and salmon fishing on the beautiful River Torridge. The river is wonderfully managed to provide a great balance between wildness and good fishing access. Charlie and Adam at the Inn are extremely knowledgable and keen to direct you to the best fishing. The fish don't always cooperate but it's good value and always fun.

Two friends and myself visited the Half Moon Inn for lunch on a Monday. Luckily we booked a table as the pub tables were full. I chose fish and chips which cost £15. It was absolutely delicious and knocked spots off the £45 fish and chips at The Ivy restaurant I experienced last month!
