Surprisingly good BBQ and Detroit-style pizza tucked away in Devon, in a bit of a run-down pub decorated with American nostalgia and playing classic rock'n'roll - and at bargain prices, too! Only drawback is the enormous takeaway-style menu which made it difficult to put together a selection of favourites for just 2 people without massively over-ordering. And don't expect any (non-fried) vegetables. But you won't leave hungry!

our first visit to Hickorys and we were served by Nigel. The service was excellent and Nigel was very helpful and had a good sense of humour. When our food arrived it looked amazing. The salad side was very fresh and very tasty and my loaded jacket potato was also very tasty. My husband and our 2 friends chose from the specials, they were not disappointed. Overall I would highly recommend. Fresh tasty food, excellently cooked. I could not eat all mine and we were able to take it home with us. 5 stars. Thank you

If you're a lover of BBQ smoked meats this place will frustrate the hell out of you.
The quality of the smoking is sublime but sadly the menu doesn't show it off.
The meat is the star so why not make it so! Let me order meat platters and choose my sides! Also, burgers and pizzas have no space on a BBQ menu!

A run down pub selling BBQ food, nice people, helpful and chatty.
We had a massive platter of everything, chips and rings cooked fresh and hot, other pulled pork and meats were reheated.
Overly large portions, a case of quantity over quality.
BUT it was cheap and tasty and we would visit again.

Lost for words. Greasy, stale smell. Some of the food was inedible - mac n cheese like a supermarket basics frozen meal, microwaved. Burgers - dry meat. Onion rings - I have absolutely no idea where to start. Food order took about an hour to take, but then the food came out 15 minutes after we ordered, and the place was next to empty, so it must be reheated. It may be locally sourced, but this food died in vain. Such a shame as it was a nice place in the past. No photos as too busy downing drinks to hide the disappointment.

We loved it here. Not an every day or even every week kinda meal but a really enjoyable treat. We had the Mac and cheese with fried chicken, the Pickle Rick burger and the smokehouse special fries. The portion sizes were huge and everything was soooo cheesy.
The staff were really friendly and kind.
Don't listen to any reviews that say the food is expensive. It's really not!

I wasn't sure what to expect when I came here due to other reviews. The place didn't wreak of fat, the smell was delicious home cooking. The staff were really nice and friendly and the food was mega.
The portions are massive and you can take left overs home.
Everyone loved their burgers and I had a deep pan pizza which was the size of a big lasagne. I managed to eat a third and that was a challenge. I shall tackle the rest today.
Met the father and son who run the place and they were really lovely.
