We walked from Salcombe Town to The Winking Prawn. Ate here in May - WOW! The food is amazing and the staff are too! Just a complete gem of a restaurant in a lovely place. I had the whole dressed crab and I thought I wouldn’t be able to finish it but I did! Back down next week and we will be eating here again then. Thoroughly recommend ?

Arrogant unfriendly staff, food was meant to be a bbq but cold prawns evidently hadn’t been near a flame, the chicken was chewy and dry. Not good.

So close to the beach you can have lunch in your swimsuit, the Winking Prawn sits just over the road from North Sands in Salcombe. Welcoming visitors for more than 20 years, our particular brand of shabby chic beach restaurant always buzzes with activity as people congregate for lunch, BBQ and all the bits in between, throughout the year.
All ice cream colours and an eclectic mix of decor from some of our favourite aspects of life by the sea, The Winking Prawn is a family run and family friendly restaurant where we aim to offer something for everyone. It’s date night, evenings out with friends, family lunches, a bottle of our own locally brewed beer whilst looking out to sea or a catch up with your best friend over coffee.
