Terrible experience on the first night of our holiday. Popped in for a cocktail before dinner, were brusquely brushed off to a table by the bar staff when we asked whether we should order there or at the table. Waited for service to come, none arrived. Flagged down a member of staff to be told he wasn't serving, but with a tasting group. Went back to the bar to be told someone would come and, about 20 minutes after our arrival, finally piggy back ordered from a waiter delivering drinks to the neighbouring couple who had also complained about the delay. The bar had fewer than 10 customers in it. 15 minutes later, still no sign of our drinks and when a second round of drinks was brought to the couple we checked to be told they had no record of our order. We left and expressed our disappointment to a female member of bar staff who smirked at us and gave not a word of a regret or an apology. We won't be back, nor ever buy the brand. Incredibly disappointing.

An unforgettable experience at Salcombe Gin Bar!
We had an incredible time at the Salcombe Gin Bar ? the atmosphere was vibrant yet relaxed, and the setting right by the water made it even more special. The real standout, though, was the service. Crystal was absolutely fantastic ? warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about what she does. She took the time to walk us through the gin menu, made brilliant recommendations based on our tastes, and mixed up some of the best cocktails we've ever had. Her attention to detail and friendly energy really elevated the whole experience. Can?t recommend this place enough ? we?ll definitely be back!

I owned a house in Island Street for nearly 30 years and was delighted when the Salcombe Distillery was built on the site of the old Island Cruising Club Boathouse
When the cocktail bar opened, I was very excited to pay a visit. On the first few occasions I treated our party to Salcombe Gin Marmahitos, which were superb if not a little pricey at £12 each. Last weekend I was in Salcombe with my partner and we decided to treat ourselves to one of these wonderful drinks. Unfortunately the quality is now quite poor, with no caramelised dried orange (which we had to ask for) very little marmalade flavour and yet these are now £14 each. I would not mind paying for the drink as it once was but not as it is now. Come on Salcombe Gin if you are going to charge premium prices your customers should receive a premium drink.

Love distillery - drinks are great. I know it?s discretionary but the 10% service charge being a bar does grate. Just charge more for the drinks! Feels a bit sharp.

Exceptional service and the distillery tour is really good fun! A party of 6 and we had a fantastic time. Well worth a visit. The team are friendly and knowledgeable and the whole experience was spot on! Thank you!

And this gin distillery bar is one of our favourite gin distillery bars. When I die I'd like to be cremated here please (on a boat packed with Salcombe gin bottles). Yes, I like this gin...

My partner and I did the gin tasting and tour experience. We loved that the experience leaned on the former more rather than the latter, and we were given a generous number of different gins to try. The quality of the gins were excellent and fruit pieces were given to add to the flavour

Popped in to buy some gin from the shop today, 13.3.24. Having had 'Start Point' at Salcombe Yacht Club we were interested to try the others with a view to purchasing. I had to ask to try the gins and was given a small measure of two different types which my husband and I ended up sharing rather than being given one each. The person who served us was unfriendly bordering on rude and I had to ask, again, what the difference was between two of the gins as no explanation offered. Overall not a pleasant experience. If you can't be pleasant, helpful and friendly to customers you're in the wrong job. The gin is not cheap so up your customer service game as we nearly walked out after such treatment without purchasing. That'll be the last time we buy gin in your shop.

A lovely product, and friendly service. But one major, and surprising disappointment, especially from what is a premium product in Salcombe. Why don't you take American Express? A sign in the gin bar says 'we appreciate your understanding'. I don't understand! You missed out on £300 of sales from me (£75 gift bottles), so you could save a 50p transaction fee!

Made to feel not worthy!!This review is in relation with the gin shop not the gin tasting experience. On the 06.12.23 we dropped in to purchase two bottles of pink gin priced at £45 per bottle. It states quite clearly as you walk into the shop that they have gift wrapping? We were greeted by the young lady and she was pleasant, however we made the purchase of two bottles of gin and asked if we could have them separately gift wrapped.However after a quick look around the shop we established that both bottles were placed into one gift bag!I asked again if they could be in separate bags as they are separate gifts? Much to my surprise she stated I shouldn?t really as I?m not supposed to!!!Despite the reluctance she basically placed another bag on the counter and made no attempt to separate the two bottles into the separate gift bags. We actually completed this ourselves whilst she watched on!We also noticed after leaving the shop that the second gift bag had no securing ribbon.In summary, a complete lack lustre approach to customer service following an expensive purchase, a real job?s worth!No customer should ever leave a shop feeling disgruntled and annoyed, however we did!If it wasn?t for the fact that they were promised gift?s I would of walked out and spent my money elsewhere!!Don?t offer a service if your staff have no interest in providing!!
