Lovely converted Victorian building close to the Barbican. Refurbished rooms are very tastefully presented with all that you might need. A little dust on some ledges but nothing to get hung up about. The bed was huge (2 singles together) and comfortable. Hot water was instant. Staff were friendly and welcoming.Despite being a listed building, the presentation is classical yet modern and quirky in places but very acceptable. However don't expect a lift to floors!Walkability: Close to Barbican

Positives: when we first arrived there was a slight mix up on beds. Lady was very accommodating and sorted this out for us.Lovely breakfast and clean hotel.Negative: the issues started on the second night when heating was broken and we were told someone had been out to look at it. They gave us a plug in oil radiator to carry up three flights of stairs to our room. And we're told to let them know in the morning if there had been a problem. This is not an ideal response, as we were leaving in the morning anyway and meant if the oil radiator didn't work too well we would be stuck in a cold room all night? No mention of a potential change of rooms or reimbursement for a room not fit for purpose, and not entirely receiving what we had paid for. To top it all off, we also found a plug with half the socket missing and electricals exposed. This is entirely unacceptable, and dangerous! On a lesser negative note, the shower pressure was extremely weak in this room so we would recommend avoiding the top floor of this hotel as at present is not fit for purpose regardless of how much you paid for it.Rooms: Top floor room, not fit for purpose until problems fixed.Safety: Really unhappy about the broken plug on our wall, and broken heating.Food & drinks: Food was the biggest positive of our stay, and arranged for lactose free milk. Staff were incredible who served the breakfast, wonderful and polite.

We had a couple of issues but spoke with staff and all was sorted to our satisfaction. We stayed here primarily to visit our granddaughter at university. They allowed us to bring her here for breakfast. All very pleasant and central to where we wanted to be. Will recommend to anyone else looking for accommodation within walking distance of the university, the coast, town centre and the Plymouth Gin factory.

we really enjoyed our stay here. we had a few minor problems but all were sorted out with no fuss by the hotel staff. staff were very friendly and helpful from the receptionist to the night porter. our visit to plymouth was primarily to see our grandaughter who has just started at the university there. they made us welcome by letting us bring her to the hotel for breakfast which was a nice thought. will certainly stay here when we visit again and will recommend to her parents.

A little apprehensive initially due to the low price, but was greeted by a fantastic friendly hotel at a great price and with a superb location. Stayed in a superior Superking room which was spacious and bright with fresh decor, nice surprise. Breakfast, cooked to order is a great bonus. Will book again

We just stayed two nights in the invicta Hotel, very friendly helpful staff, who gave us a lovely room with a view when we checked in also lovely breakfast staff who couldn't do enough. The hotel was in a perfect location just off the hoe and easy to walk to the bus station and centre.

The location was excellent for my needs but the restaurant service was basic with limited choice. Room was comfortable but lacks double glazing (noise from road traffic) and quite difficult to open/close. Staff friendly but quite poor on 'service skills' compared to similar establishments.

The hotel was lovely. The staff were friendly and helpful. We had a lovely room with a very comfortable bed. Loved that the room had character. We were within easy walking distance of bars and restaurants. Would definitely stay again.

I stayed in a single room at the Invicta, location was good as I was attending a family event in the Crown Plaza, and also close proximity to the Hoe. Unfortunately I found the room far too small, perhaps an error on my part for not checking the photographs. I stayed during a heat wave and found the windows difficult to open and a fan difficult to come by despite several attempts. The room was supplied with a smart tv which I appreciated. However, I generally found the front desk staff to be fairly unwelcoming which led to me only staying there 1 night of my 2 night stay. I personally felt this was overpriced for the standard I experienced.

Perfect situation for the Hie and Barbican. Good breakfast, friendly staff, nice bar, outdoor seating area and parking. Comfortable bed. Would like a biiger bathroom and a little kess traffic noise. But there is little they can probably do regarding either.

A fantastic location to stay and explore Plymouth Hoe, Barbican and City Centre; all in easy walking distance. The hotel team were super friendly and we discussed room allocation prior to arrival so that my 80 year old mother had a room that was only up a short flight of stairs and our other rooms were close by. A welcome cup of tea on arrival, parking space, lovely breakfasts and a bar for the evening gave us everything we wanted. You can eat there but we liked going out. We were given good restaurant recommendations.
