We returned by boat to the Ship to sample their food having had a drink there the week before. It didn?t disappoint. We love the location, the atmosphere and the warm welcome. Our only issue was discovering discovered our tender leaning at 45 degrees above the harbour wall as the tide had gone out whilst we are our evening meal! Thankfully we figured out how to rescue the situation and got back to our boat in good spirits. We will be back!

A beautiful riverside pub in the charming village of Noss Mayo. We ate dinner here and had a fantastic time. Cheerful and bright with delicious food and friendly staff, overlooking Noss Creek and with lovely walks around (old cellars beach a recommended destination).

Popped in for a quick lunchtime drink mid-week in August. The pub is lovely and plenty of parking is you know the ride times! A friendly oval said ?you got an hour there till the tide is on?. Good advice. The place is lovely and oozes history. Sit inside or out for a lovely atmosphere. Beer was great - we didn?t eat. The service on our day however was poor - the place and tables in a mess and service very slow, run by a couple of teenagers sadly. This was most like just a quiet off day?.

Lovely meal at the Ship. Beautiful setting beside the estuary in this traditional pub. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the food arrived quickly and was beautifully cooked. Lots of local fish options. Would highly recommend.

Fantastic food, choice of drinks and location. Service was great and we had a fabulous meal overlooking the harbour after a long walk. Dog friendly and we will definitely be back whilst we are staying in Newton Ferrers.

I wrote a review for this place about 5 years ago and recently revisited, what a change. This is clearly a location that has taken its foot off the gas with it's food. Location, pub, facilities, selection of drinks were all very good and could not be faulted. However the food was at best average. The menu is your basic food with a few of the usual suspects thrown in, triple cooked chips anyone! We ordered a sharing platter for starters which looked fabulous, however it was bland and lacked any flavour. There was a lot on tge board but we left most of it. I ordered their cider battered haddock and chips with various dips - mushy peas, tartar and curry sauce. Wow, this was terrible. The inside of the batter was uncooked and soft, the fish was mushy and under cooked and, you guessed it, no flavour. The triple cooked chips were a disgrace. They were from the freezer and were not triple cooked, they had simply been cooked! Each of the sides were bland and tasteless. This was without doubt the worst fish and chips I have ever had. My partner had the pork schnitzel which she left over half. An incredibly disappointing meal for such a lovely and unique pub.

This is a great location overlooking the water. Lovely outside seating for when the weather is good. Only slight let down was a few of the items on the menu where not available when we visited. The food we did get though was very tasty.

Lovely walk to the pub and the Ship didn't disappoint, great food, great outside seating and beautiful interior. Service was great too.

Insufficient staffing levels led to long queues just for a drink. We had to find a staff member to order food. Multiple items of food and drink unavailable on the day we visited. Very disappointing, we won't be visiting again

Visited with a large group who perhaps made the ordering a little complex, but the team member managed and navigated that well. The service score was based on the timing, lack of attention and lack of care. Food clearing was none existent and we had to ask for finished plates to be removed. Wine just dumped in a dining space not placed on the table with any thought, when I asked for a new knife and fork, 9 sets plus napkins were just dropped in my place like a punishment for asking. Worse of all was that while we were being ignored the serving team were delivering shots to the kitchen. The place was very quiet on the Regatta weekend which should have been booming. Seems there is a training opportunity for the front of house to address to sharpen customer focus. The food was actually very good and enjoyable, let down by a lack of service focus.
