A lovely friendly place with lots of character.

We returned home a week ago from a 3 week holiday. We were staying under half a mile away and as we had eaten here previously for lunch I decided to give it a try as they have an excellent gluten free menu. On paper the menu had excellent choices. The lady behind the bar was very welcoming & knowledgeable with drink and food options. We ordered the steak & ale pie and the burger off the gf menu. We were told the pie is cooked fresh and would take 30 minutes which we agreed was ok. However 1 hour & 20 minutes later the food arrived just as we were about to pay for our drinks and leave. The burger was ok and tasty. However the pastry on the pie was raw and the gravy was watery with no flavour and wasn?t eaten because it was inedible. We felt bad and the lady offered to make something else but I reminded her how long we had waited for the food so I left hungry which my husband wasn?t happy about. I just don?t understand why the food took so long because from what we could see we were the only customers in the restaurant. What a shame because the pub is in a lovely setting and we enjoyed sitting outside for drinks before dinner but we also couldn?t understand why it was so quiet at 6pm. I must say it was the worst meal that I?ve ever had so won?t be returning next year. Even though we were not charged for my meal which was a nice gesture from the waitress it?s not enough to persuade us to return next year. The waitress is a gem and nothing was too much trouble which is the only reason I?ve scored for service.

Beautiful little medieval style pub, tucked away in the countryside. We went there for lunch after visiting Canonteign Falls as it's only 5 mins away. Food was delicious, staff were really friendly and the place itself felt really inviting. Will definitely be back.

Was only there for a funeral wake. Was rather packed.

We have just returned from a fabulous three days staying at the Cridford Inn, which was located in the very quiet village of Trusham in Devon. An archetypal quaint English pub with thatched roof we had the most amazing relaxing three days with a lovely cooked breakfast and chose to eat in at the pub two of the three nights we were there.
Everything was freshly produced, so the menu was not extensive but gave us just enough choice.
The rooms are arranged around a small courtyard and despite being right next to the pub, there was no noise as the Pub seems to be frequented mainly by locals who are equally walkers and dog owners like us, and we woke up to the sound of masses of chirping birds.
Ness and Paul were very welcoming of dogs and were happy to have the dogs in the breakfast room or restaurant sitting quietly at our feet when we ate.
The rooms were well kitted out the with a large comfortable bed, kettle, TV, And a powerful shower.
There were some lovely walks close to the Inn although our preference was to disappear over to Dartmoor during the day.
We will definitely be visiting again. It was a few minutes from Bovey Tracey and a short drive onto Dartmoor which of course has lots of open spaces and dog walking.

Very friendly and helpful young lady behind the bar. They let us park there so we could go on the Ashton Round walk. Had a lovely Sunday roast when we got back to the pub sat outside in the sunshine and the peace and quiet, nice not hearing any traffic. Will definitely go back again!

We had a lovely stay here. All members of staff that we met were beyond helpful. Very close to the great barn wedding venue. Would recommend

My wife and I stayed at the Cridford while down in the area for a family gathering. It?s the perfect spot, classic English quirky, great restaurant, comfortable beds and lovely hosts.
The restaurant is renowned locally for the quality of the food, I can confirm it?s great.
The hotel itself doesn?t have a straight wall or floor in the whole place, but I guess you should expect that from a building that?s been in constant use since 825 AD.
Ness and Paul make lovely hosts, warm and welcoming.
One thing to note, they have EV charging on site (2 x 7.2kW) but these aren?t (as yet) listed on their website.

Outstanding service and top notch food last night at the Cridford, which has fast become our favourite local. We immensely appreciate the lovely owner going above and beyond keeping the kitchen open for 30-mins, as my sister-in-law was running late on her drive down from Liverpool ? The beef wellington though.. wow.

Visited today for lunch. Rain was lashing down but the fire was lit and the pub felt very welcoming. I had the steak and ale pie which was excellent and my husband had the ham, egg and chips also delicious as was the chocolate cake and sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Top quality wine and beer also, couldn?t fault it!
Worth a visit in any weather!

We had a beautiful Sunday lunch at The Cridford Inn. The helpings were generous and the food was delicious. My daughter is a vegetarian, she had the bbq cauliflower which she said was lovely. The staff were friendly and the service was excellent. We will definitely return when we are back in the area.

We just stopped for dinner. A bit overpriced for the food. Crab pasta was just OK. Burger was good. Kids pasta was a bit spicy and hard to eat. Tiny slice of chocolate cake was a bit dry at £10!
