We ate here and we thought the service, food and the atmosphere was absolute superb. Josh was very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. If the tides are with you then you can arrive by Boat, which is a beautiful in the evening

Visited River Shack today for the first time. Beautiful weather, lots of people out and about and the cafe was really busy. Great welcome and speedy service.
Then, £15 for tomatoes on toast!!!!!! What the heck I thought. You have to be joking!
15 mins later a spectacular plate of food arrived, huge portion of fantastic marinated cherry tomatoes, REAL sour dough, soured cream, topped with a fresh egg and undertones of basil. No corners cut there!
Absolutely fantastic and well worth every penny. My wife had pancakes and berry compote and again fantastic quality ingredients, big portion and lovely presentation. Lovely staff - well done.
11/10 and would definitely recommend. Will go back if we have time on our stay.

We ate at The River Shack 3 times during our stay in Stoke Gabriel as well as enjoying a few ice creams from the hatch too. Every time we were greeted like old friends & made to feel extremely welcome. The food was delicious & the freshly made pizzas were amazing. It?s must visit kind of place to sit, eat & drink, all in wonderful company with the most wonderful views.

What a lovely find whilst visiting the area. We were so pleased we booked online 3 hours earlier otherwise we would have been disappointed not to get a seat. Food was amazing. The staff so lovely and it was all topped off with the beautiful location. It felt like being back at Lake Garda. We will be back again.

We?ve been coming to Devon for many years now, and discovering The River Shack in Stoke Gabriel was an absolute gem of a find. Nestled in the most beautiful setting by the water, with a peaceful and picturesque backdrop, it?s become one of our favourite places to visit.
The food is always fantastic fresh, full of flavour, and beautifully presented. And as an Italian, I have to say: their pizza night is seriously impressive. The pizzas are delicious, authentic, and honestly give the Italians a run for their money!
The owner is always welcoming, charming, and makes sure we?re well looked after every time we visit. It?s the kind of place that makes you feel instantly relaxed and happy to just sit and enjoy the surroundings.
We truly can?t fault The River Shack it?s become a highlight of our trips to Devon, and we can?t wait to go back again soon. A must-visit if you?re in the area!

We visit Stoke Gabriel with our extended family for crabbing fun every year & this year we all decided we?d like to sample the fabulous food at The River Cafe on Sunday. We booked 4 tables in advance, we?re a huge group of 30 (adults & children), so they found an additional table for us last minute too!
They dealt with everything calmly, explaining the kitchen was small & it could be a bit of a wait, but honestly we did no notice this, all the staff were so, helpful, the food was first class (from their fresh pizzas to fish of the day, burgers & salads, all fantastic). For such a popular but small establishment they deserve this high praise, fabulous ?? Will definitely be back next year!! Thanks team, you were awesome today.

This was our first visit to what will no doubt be a go-to place to eat.
The Shack certainly lived up to other reviews in both atmosphere and service from a young and enthusiastic staff. However, it's the food that really sold the experience. This was Pizza night and I was intrigued by the special... garlic & chilli prawns with smashed lemon and samphire set on one of the best pizza bases I've had in a long time.
It was magnificent.
We're already planning our next visit to the area....just so we can eat here again.

We stopped there during our bike trip out for the day. The waitresses where very lovely and welcoming ?. At the time it was rather busy (normally for this time of year), but much to our surprise we where offered a seat either inside or out - outside we sat. We both had a meal with drinks. The food was cooked to perfection & tasted delicious.
The waitresses, where they could, would also stop now & then to engage in a small chat. Which we thought was lovely, We certainly didn't feel to be hurried out. Definitely recommend a stop here, even though it is an extremely popular place.
