Me and my Dad from Somerset came to visit this week and what can I say! The most beautifully prepared food in town. So much love and detail has been put into each gourmet meal. Truly happy that we found this place and felt we were really supporting a local family Buisness. Go try this a la carte menu

This was honestly the best meal I have had in a really long time. Just so incredible. We had the mushroom gnocchi and the cauliflower dishes. And I was so impressed. Can't fault it
Oh... And the vegan biscoff cake.. just wow

Place looks unsuspecting from the outside (cafe style) but food was surprisingly delicious and well presented, came here twice (more than any other eatery) during our week's holiday - would recommend ?

It was a little quiet, but the food and service more than made up for it! Excellent local seafood, very well presented and you could tell there was a lot of care and attention that had gone into creating the dishes.

I give 5* on all counts. The food was outstanding, worthy of any top London restaurant. It was delicate with flavour and superbly good. In terms of venue, this is basically a cafe, with pay up front. The young lady who served us was charming. Also to note in the cafe cum restaurant all clean and immaculate. BTW mediterranean food here, very well done.

We ate here a few days ago.
The first thing to go wrong was our ordered cocktail: a raspberry daquiri. On questioning a staff member (possibly the owner) we were told there was no raspberry in the cocktail, in spite of raspberry being specifically listed as an ingredient on the menu. The drink tasted of chemicals and was rejected. We subsequently learned that cocktails are sometimes made using sachets of flavouring?
None of the cocktails had a price against them. Is it even legal not to put prices on a menu?
The Specials board listed dressed crab. I love crab so I ordered it. The ?white? meat was a light grey and had a curious texture. The same staff member explained that the crab arrived in packets which were often frozen. You kind of expect to get a fresh crab when it is listed on the Specials board. It was rejected.
The other food we had was adequate I suppose, but so mundane I cannot even remember what it was.
We settled on a reduced bill.
We asked our accommodation to remove the Vanilla Pod from its list of recommended eateries. They were apologetic as they thought they already done so, due to previous feedback.

It was our first visit to Lynton and we also ventured down the path to Lynmouth. The weather was very indecisive with spells of blustery showers. We made it back up to Lynton via the funicular railway and needed somewhere to eat. There were plenty of options but really glad we chose The Vanilla Pod. We plumped for the 6 sharing dishes for £50 and the food didn't disappoint. The kidneys on skewers were delicious and so was everything that we tried. Plenty of other options on the menu and the 'daily specials' board.

I had middle eastern vegan breakfast. It surprised me with a great taste and it was nicely presented. Very dog friendly too ?

The Meze platter was delicious! We loved all the dips. Unfortunately the service was extremely slow... so plan to spend a few hours there for dinner. Note: they no longer serve sticky date pudding as previously mentioned in reviews ?

Visited for a late breakfast. My wife had the full English which she thoroughly enjoyed. I had the Turkish eggs which were a revelation. Loved them so much that I immediately loke up the recipe as I plan to make them at home once we return from holiday.
Friendly and fast service.
They also allow you to take dogs in.

When we asked for an extra hot coffee, the guy gave us a lecture on health and safety even though we didn't complain at all. Coffee took about 10 minutes to arrive, was luke warm and came without sugar. Sugar then took another 5 minutes, with no apology and by which point we'd drunk the luke warm coffee. Nice looking place but would not recommend based on this service

Tea was fine. Soup wasn't very nice and expensive for what it was.

we hadn't booked, it was a busy weekend but we walked in and were given a lovely table, the food was lovely, high quality, well cooked, great menu choice and it tasted very good.
