I stayed here twice this month ( this is how much I like this place). Very nice rooms, dog friendly, welcoming and helpful staff, amazing views and great walks, best pizza, live music?. I could carry on ? definitely will come back in the future!

We spent 3 nights in The Blue Ball Inn during our recent summer vacation in Devon and Cornwall. The Inn is located very close to the South West Coast path and gave us the best views that we had on the path. We also spotted wild deer and the Exmoorponies. The rooms are nicely decorated, very clean and provide excellent coffee and tea facilities. We found the hosts very helpful and friendly and the food was excellent, both for the breakfast and in the restaurant. We'll definitely be back!

Such a welcoming and homely pub & inn, absolutely loved our stay here.
The staff is super friendly and they and the manager make sure you are completely comfortable! Good food, nibbles and drinks in a great atmosphere where furry friends are super welcome as well.
Lots of beautiful hikes and walks around to explore.
Definitely one of my new happy places along the South West Coast Path!???

I did wonder why the price was a little on the The expensive side. By the time I had returned home and looked at my receipt I discovered I had been charged £21 for a glass of rose wine (£60) a bottle?? £21?the most expensive drink on the list.
I had asked for house wine £6.50 ish a glass? if you didn?t have it you should have said so? this is beyond sneaky, I?m not very happy!!!

Really disappointed! A-frame outside pub stated food service time of 12 - 9pm went in and asked for a table to be told food wasn?t being served until 5pm. When I enquired it was due to a chef being off. This is understandable as it happens but why not change the sign outside to reflect the different services times, can non of the staff write!!!
The toilets also needed a good clean.

Went for an evening meal here on the recommendation of our guest house owner. He was not wrong! Service excellent, food likewise. Good menu selection and great cocktails. Thoroughly recommend!?

Amazing Olde Worlde pub, with open fires, high back antique pews, intimate bar rooms, great selection of beers, ciders, spirits and wines, bar snacks available (pork scratchings, crisps, nuts etc.) plus menu (with delicious sounding food {although we didn't eat}) and great staff (the manager was particularly polite, helpful and friendly). We sat outside and watched the clouds blow in from the coast and onto the moor, where the Blue Ball lies. This place oozes history, and conjures up images of Poldark, Pride And Prejudice and Emma. We didn't stay but the rooms looked amazing. I could imagine sitting here on a winter's evening in front of a roaring fire, with a local pint, and great food, whilst the fog and mist rolled onto the eaves and deep gladed hills.

As a trained chef with extensive experience in catering and front-of-house service, I genuinely expected more from the Blue Ball Inn in Lynmouth ? especially given their high review scores. That?s precisely why we booked. But honestly? what the heck went wrong?
We reserved a table for 8:30pm on the evening before my birthday, looking forward to a cosy meal to kick off our Devon getaway. Instead, what we got was a string of missteps that no professionally run kitchen or dining room should let happen.
To start, we were seated without menus ? those only turned up once our drinks arrived. We?d ordered from their gin pairing menu: two Tanqueray cocktails. At this stage, we were told there would be a 30-minute wait for food, despite the restaurant being, at most, half full.
My fiancée chose the 6oz steak, and I went for the meat feast pizza. The wait wasn?t 30 minutes ? it was 50. During that time, a waitress offered another drink, which then took another 10 minutes to arrive. Service was disorganised and lacked any real urgency or structure.
Then came the food, and things went from bad to worse.
My pizza was clearly a frozen product, served ? unbelievably ? in a takeaway box, uncut, and without even a pizza wheel or knife. As a chef, it was honestly offensive. That?s something you expect from a late-night garage, not a restaurant with glowing online ratings.
The steak arrived medium rare, despite being ordered medium well. The chips were drenched in oil ? telltale signs of a fryer that?s either overdue an oil change or wasn?t up to temperature. The onion rings were the same: pale, greasy, and undercooked. These are fundamental errors no commercial kitchen should be making.
We were too hungry to send anything back, but we definitely didn?t stay for dessert.
When the bill came, things took a final nosedive ? we were charged £10 more than expected for drinks we didn?t order and, bizarrely, billed for a crème brûlée we never had. The bill was corrected after we queried it, but by then the damage was done.
The venue itself lacked charm, the service was chaotic, and the kitchen appeared to be run by amateurs. Based on the glowing reviews, we came in expecting a proper dining experience. Instead, it felt like a school canteen operating on autopilot.
Whatever reputation this place had clearly isn?t being upheld anymore. A serious rethink is needed ? from management to menu to staff training. We won?t be back.

Beautiful Inn, we had a lovely 3 night stay as a treat for our anniversary.
Our room was beautiful and pristine, food was fantastic. Loved having pizza on the patio with a cheeky cocktail.
Very friendly staff, special thanks to Lisa.

Exceptional Pizza! I have my own pizza oven, so I know a think or two about what makes a good pizza. These are up there among the best I've ever had highly recommend. Also a breathtaking vies from the beer garden with an easy walk to the coastal path should you wish to get a takeaway pizza and sit and watch the sunset.

Excellent experience, stayed here as couple for night getaway from the kids. The cocktails were great, and the food was too. On very hot days, a fan in the room would have been helpful. We will likely stay again.
