My family visited this wonderful pub for Sunday lunch. The roast was amazing. Our order was taken and then the food arrived very quickly. The quantity and quality of food was superb. Plenty of veg and other trimmings. They do a very nice real ale - Jail Ale. All plates were cleared and then we moved onto the desserts. They were wonderful! Sticky toffee pudding and bread and butter pudding, all with custard. The pub was is small and cosy and the staff so friendly. It is a must to visit.

Party of four adults, we had the roasts - beef, pork and chicken. Lovely old pub, plenty of parking on road outside. Best to book ahead, and check opening times, as not open every day. Very friendly and helpful staff, food was freshly cooked and tasty, with ample portions. Would certainly return if we were local - think our friends will. Great place for a leisurely lunch, and dog friendly too.

Totally blown away with the quality of food. I ordered the crab cakes and they were amazing. Really tasted of crab. Normally fish cakes are full of potato and little fish but I?m sure these were filled with just crab. Full of flavour! My husband had the steak, which again was cooked to perfection. What was more impressive was that the landlord was on his own, cooking AND serving! If he was stressed he didn?t show it. He apologised for the delay. Not sure what delay as we we were in and out in around an hour! Totally recommend this hidden little gem ?

When we pulled off the A30 with a screaming baby and desperately needed somewhere to stop, this pub was a god send. It was 8pm on a Thursday night and at first glance I thought this would be a proper ?locals only? type vibe but I couldn?t have been more wrong. We took our dog and crying baby in and felt so welcome. We learnt all about the pubs history as a post office from the locals sat at the bar and got chatting about our journey back to Jersey from Cornwall and how we stumbled upon the pub. The owner very kindly made us some food after the kitchen had shut, maybe it was my look of utter exhaustion but more likely because he was just a very kind mind. The toilets were clean, the fire was going which made for a lovely toasty and cosy atmosphere and the people were all friendly - loved it! One improvement point could be to put a pull down baby changing unit in the women?s toilet or maybe just keep a changing mat available in there which could be used on the floor in the bathroom as I couldn?t see anywhere to change a nappy. (Although I didn?t ask the owner so maybe they do have somewhere that wasn?t immediately obvious)

We visited this pub on a Saturday evening, and were not at all disappointed. Very, very friendly and helpful staff and the food was amazing. Would definitely recommend to anybody. Really grateful for the helpfulness of the owners as we aren't local to the area and were warmly welcomed into this pub. It is great value for money and they went above and beyond to help us. We also had our dog with us who was welcomed in by all??

So happy to have discovered this little gem of a pub. Quirky historic interior which we loved. Wonderful hospitality from Tim and Lorraine. Tim was a consummate host, generous, friendly and warm. Visited one evening for drinks and another night for dinner. Tim was running the bar and doing the cooking. He does everything and works very hard. Our meal was delicious and generous in size, representing excellent value. Lovely to meet Lorraine and Tim and some of their regulars. Highly recommended ? We?ll be back in February.
