We have been here many times but on this occasion things were very different. Taken to our table which was not made up apart from a few bits of dirty cutlery and hadn?t been wiped over. When breakfast arrived it wasn?t as good as previously. Eggs were overcooked, turned sausage over and was overcooked underneath. Mushrooms and tomato had black bits on them. Tea was lovely and had hot water to top up. Floor was dirty. Had chips under our table at 11am! Very disappointed.

Came for lunch & had a festive baguette! It was nice but wasn?t much for the £11 price tag ( for a baguette ) - had much nicer elsewhere with much more filling : flavour. Service was efficient in the restaurant + was glad to have booked as it was busy. Was a little disappointed that the shop staff on the cheese counter lacked any customer service skills. I waited for around 4 minutes in front of the women serving with no acknowledgment at all, I wanted to buy desserts to take away but ended up leaving as she was so occupied pricing cheese despite seeing me and choosing to ignore me. Ended up spending money elsewhere on desserts and I?m sure it was appreciated there!

Have visited many times but have noticed a real drop in service and quality recently. Came for breakfast. Quite a wait before order was taken, we had waited 40 minutes after we had placed order before waitress advised me no gluten free bread available, not much choice for special dietary requirements, my daughter then had to decide quickly on an alternative as the rest of group waiting. She was not given the option to look at menu again. When it eventually arrived food was just warm and mediocre. Bacon had tough rind, toast was just warm bread, partially buttered and poached eggs over cooked. Such a shame as had previously had some very good food there.

I went for coffee on the 29th and thought I would have a bacon sandwich. At the same time the coffee was not very hot it took a long time to come to the table. The bacon sandwich took even longer when it arrived. It was streaky bacon. I believe it had been kept warm for quite a while, The rind was so tough it could not be removed from the sandwich in any one of my many bites. Would have been easier to eat with a sharp knife and fork not the idea of a bacon sandwich I returned on the 30th with some other friends, decided to try the breakfast this again, took a long time for drinks to come to the table, and the food was nearly an hour before we eat from arrival The food was not particularly hot plates were cold The restaurant was not particularly busy! I have been many times over the years and had very good experiences, but of late. I believe this has dropped.

breakfast took nearly an 40 mins to be prepared. the restaurant was not even half full. breakfast it's self the c bacon was cooked to death and low quality the rest of it was barely warm. Real shame to see how the standard have dropped.

I have visited Strawberry Fields many times and today was the first time I have been disappointed. My wife's teapot contained three teabags making it far too strong to drink, our eggs were no longer runny and our bacon too tough! What made it worse was that when we mentuoned this to our waitress and the checkout girl, their reaction was "oh dear" and "that wasn't very nice", as though our experience had nothing to do with either of them. Their lack of concern made our experience worse.

Went for a Christmas lunch followed by a visit to Santa experience. Lunch slot was 2pm and we had all planned the traditional Christmas Turkey lunch but this was not available. Ordered sausage and chips for my kids. One sausage and chips for £7.20. One sausage?!? Then headed up for Christmas experience. We loved this last year and even though we think it is expensive we had such a lovely time last year we decided to repeat it. Unfortunately they had changed the set up considerably and very much for the worse. We were ushered to a tent where we were told we had 25 minutes to make some reindeer food. This entailed putting some rice krispies in a paper bag- took most of the kids there about 2 minutes to do!! There was some colouring to do for the other 23 minutes. When I approached an elf helper about this she was very rude and basically told us off for not having Christmas spirit. The previous year you could travel through the experience at your own pace. Anyway, 25 minutes later we went to the elf show. He puts on a great show- my kids are too old for it now I think but clearly the younger ones enjoyed it. Then the worst was to come. The Santa experience. Last year they had created a beautiful little Santa grotto. This year we were all just ushered into a soulless tent where we had a story read to us. It wasn't read well and kids were crying and talking through it. Then we all had to queue in the tent to get a photo with Santa. The only good bit of the experience was at the end where you didn't have to be with the unpleasant elf anymore and could explore yourself. This place is a perfect example of what happens when it all becomes about the profits. A couple of days earlier we had done a Santa experience at the Milky Way in Bideford. That was cheaper and much better!! Friendly elves who didn't speak to my 9 year olds like 2 year olds. Won't be coming back here. Such a shame- they got it so right in 2022 but so wrong in 2023.

Excellent farm shop, and I do like a farm shop, cafe and restaurant were superb, great service friendly staff. We stopped on way to Cornwall, just for coffee really but then planned our return journey around a stop there for food before the long journey home. Could not praise the facilities or staff enough, brilliant place.

Total rip off is all you can say?..how you can charge £4.55 for a small oat latte and £3.95 for a slither of not very nice sponge cake?.at least Dick Turpin wore a mask
