Cannot fault the team at Newsomes, I have been with them for over 15 years and see them regularly for eye tests, contact lenses & diabetic eye screening. Recently had a few issues with my eyes, Nick has kindly seen me right away to diagnose the issues and provided advice/treatment. Reception team are always very friendly and personable. I will continue to support a local and independent business!

A really great service. I was seen quickly as I had a sore eye. The receptionist was super polite and helpful and got me an appointment quickly. Alex the optician was amazing. Very professional and calm. Explained everything. Really exceptional service. Thank you.

Fantastic place. Staff were so friendly, patient and understanding. Nothing is too much trouble and they actually listen. 10/10 I will be using newsome as my regular optician's and only a shirt trip from plymouth

Absolutely fantastic service from all of the staff at Newsome Opticians!I moved to this optician three years ago, as my husband received such excellent care for his regular glaucoma checks.I have had some issues with my eye sight having had a macular hole over ten years ago. The operation was successful but scar tissue resulted in distortion to the vision in that eye. This didn?t affect my ability to see normally as my ?good? eye was dominant and I was totally unaware of any distortion apart from when I had eye tests to examine them individually.Unfortunately, earlier this year, due to normal age-related developments and as my near/distant prescriptions changed, my ?bad? eye suddenly decided to become dominant and was causing major problems. The staff were so supportive and persevered until they ascertained the best prescription for my clearest vision and I am truly grateful.Special thanks need to go to Anita, on Reception, for her consistent, friendly, helpful support and understanding; Jane for her expertise in making and fitting a variety of trial lenses; and especially to Helen McKenna, Optician, for her expert knowledge, care and perseverance in addressing my sight issues. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Largely awesome, been going here as long as I've needed glasses so about 21 years at this point.I do really wish I could book appointments digitally as I and many people struggle with phone calls for various reasons, even just a Facebook page with the messenger function turned on and left in a background tab on the store computers

Excellent service. I've been going since 2001 for contact lens and eye tests, I'm so happy with the service. This week was just an eye test and great care was taken with safety, then they didn't try to sell me new glasses, offered to do an 'MOT' on my current glasses which involved tightening the screws and shaving some of the protruding lens to help prevent future problems. AND a thorough cleaning! I expected this to be added on at the till and was about to complain but NOTHING - this was just included in their exceptional, friendly service :D

Useless. Charged £100 just for single vison lenses in my own frames. Waited a week and lens incorrect fitting. Go to Specsavers or Vision Express.

I was on holiday during July and had problems with one of my eyes. I was seen immediately by an optician who diagnosed a torn retina and arranged for me to visit Derriford Hospital the next morning. Their prompt and efficient service potentially saved me from a detached retina. Many thanks for great service and very kind staff.
