Disappointing.
Sign outside saying local beers, I asked at the bar for local beers and they said Madri which is far from local. After being served a far from local beer, the beer was flat and watery, and tbe glass had lipstick stains on. First pint of my holiday has never been so Disappointing.

The food was good. The pub itself is a bit run down. They allow dogs in the restaurant part which is ok, but a couple of the dogs were off leads and running about trying to jump up on us while we were eating. The staff should have insisted on dogs on leads, I think.?

Whilst staying at Newberry Valley I had my evening meals here. The food offerings fit the pricing. The bolognese was my favourite.
Day 1. The starter was a child's burger and chips (9 out of 10) followed by rump steak and chips (7) a little tough due to being overcooked.
Day 2. Child's scampi and chips (8) followed by fish and chips (9)
Day 3. Garlic Prawns (8) followed by Spaghetti bolognese (9)

Had lunch here midweek.
Food was impressive, normal fare but done with extra care and thought as to ?the trimmings?, sauces, salads etc.
Has straightforward dishes, Fish & Chips, Scampi, Burgers etc. but done in a way that made them special and much more tasty than regular ?pub? food.
Ample selection of drinks and service was smooth and efficient.
Would recommend the mushrooms on toast as a starter, it was sublime.
The chef clearly knows what he is is doing.

Found ourselves here on the return to our camp from a trip to Ilfracombe. We were very pleased that they were able to find a table for us as they were quite busy.
My partner, who is vegan, opted for a spaghetti dish and I chose the Scampi and Chips.
I have to say that the Scampi was probably the best I've eaten in a long time, and was accompanied perfectly with a home made tartar sauce, chips and salad. The spaghetti dish, my partner informed me was very enjoyable.
We can't fault the service, nor the food. The only reason for the 4 star, which can't be blamed on the venue, was the presence of a dog sitting on the bench beside us, watching us eat! Not sure its owner took the hint..
Otherwise, we would certainly return, should be find ourselves back in the area (holidaying locally.)

Great place live music playing and no too loud and the cauliflower and chick pea curry is fantastic come here every time I'm in combe martin never disappointed

Do Not visit?.What a shame, ordered a steak each for our family of 5, tough and overpriced, worse than that the service was awful, found a hair in one of the dinner's, complained but no one was bothered

Didnt eat. Kid friendly. Had some entertainment on. Had drinks only. Carpark near by with electric charging point. Is quite small so may be difficult in peak but we had no problems.
