Overheard a manager speaking to an employee in an extremely unacceptable manor within earshot of customers. Felt very uncomfortable, will not be returning.

This a truly beautiful hotel. Our room was perfect, the bed large and comfortable. The service was excellent. However we found the food underwhelming and not up to the standard we would have expected. The menu did not really appeal. There was nothing that really made you go wow! Our food was ok but nothing special and considering the prices should have been much better.
Breakfast was good. A little disappointed as we were expecting great things.

We visited for a special lunch to celebrate my husbands birthday and our wedding anniversary. Beautiful setting and lovely building with cosy fires in most rooms. The staff were friendly and even overly gushing at times. Our meals were good, although my venison was a little too rare for my taste and I did have a problem with my starter but it was quickly rectified. I had booked their January lunch time menu but when the bill was presented I had been charged at the full rate. Again the mistake was quickly rectified. All in all an enjoyable experience if a little on the pricey side. Perhaps we'll go again in the warmer months when we can take advantage of the outdoor areas. We didn't stay overnight so I can't comment on the rooms.

Thank you Chris and the Team for the most wonderful stay celebrating my husbands Birthday.
The hotel is absolutely charming in the most beautiful setting. The room we were given was magnificent with glorious views of the rolling Devon hills and an amazing bath !
Wonderful food and service and attention to detail.A really lovely atmosphere.
Loved the Piggy Birthday biscuit and card ,very thoughtful.
We?ll be back ,we loved our stay at The Pig at Combe.

Went for supper to the restaurant with my son. Food was good, a couple of the staff not so good. Miserable Frenchman who took our drinks order in bar before supper should probably look for a different job. Close second was the girl who came up to us to take a drinks order then did an about turn and went off to serve someone else. Management need to get a grip on this and inject a bit more urgency and enthusiasm in some of the staff. A number of staff looked like they would rather not be there

Service and waiting staff are excellent, as is the location however that?s really all that The Pig can be applauded for.
The food was very poor and not worth the prices they charge. Food was cold, thrice cooked chips soggy and cold, meat either over or under.
Such a shame that as this business grows they forget why it was so good. This was my fourth and last visit as it?s just not worth the money.

Came here today for lunch - stunning location with super friendly and welcoming staff all around. The food was good but very overpriced - £6 for a tiny side of chips in a mini plant pot, and £3 added to the bill for tap water. Don?t come here if you have allergies or dietary requirements though, the menu is mostly just meat, fish and dairy. Even the fresh vegetable dishes are smothered in butter or cream. My partner is vegan and despite being reassured there would be a good selection, he could only eat one starter and one main dish (soup and risotto), so this was disappointing for us. It?d be good if the chefs consider a more varied and accessible menu in future.

Stream wagon room fantastic, service friendly if somewhat chaotic, but the food other than breakfast - what a massive disappointment... Booked on Dinner B&B basis for 2 nights following past good experiences Bath and New Forest. I find the excellent reviews for food puzzling. We ended up with pretty basic homely fare locally sourced but so poorly executed I can only think that the regular chef was away for the weekend: overcooked seabass, oversalted scallops, cuttlefish slaw without a hint of cuttlefish, sirloin so cold herb butter did not even melt, basic pork chop, venison stew that was cooked days ago and reheated with complete disintigration of the venison with laughable marble sized dumpling, triple cooked chips that certainly aren't triple cooked. The vegetable sides were the best thing on the menu. Seriously disappointing fare for an organisation priding itself on their food offering

Stayed in the 2 bed stream cottage ( first time staying at this hotel). We love it but one big issue. I stayed in the room next to the neighbouring cottage (attached) and you hear in the morning as soon as people are up walking around, closing doors, etc. I can deal with that if I could fall back asleep but I could not because the noise from the extraction fan in the other cottage is too loud ( and I wear earplugs). I told them when I was checking out that if they fix that then we will keep coming back to stay. Let?s see
Rooms: Fantastic subject to my other comments on the cottage
Nearby activities: Loads. If you love food then go to darts farm shop.
Food and drinks: Food is great and they will customise any dish for you.

We didn?t stay- only ate at the restaurant but given how many positive reviews there are we were shocked at how poor the food was. Firstly we ordered about five dishes and they all came out incredibly quickly- less than ten minutes from ordering. We also said bring it out as it?s ready, but it felt like it was sat on the side waiting to go and came out all at once. The beetroot pasta was incredibly salty, whilst the peppers with yoghurt had absolutely no salt at all. We ordered leeks with cheddar and the first ones that came out just contained no cheddar at all- we mentioned and they sent it back to the kitchen and it came back with cheddar but the tiniest amount! The celeriac with honey fermented garlic simply had no garlic taste (or garlic in the bottom) at all, and the honey tasted like it was watered down. The greens with lemon oil didn?t really taste of lemon much at all. The service was weirdly slow after we got the bill to try and pay. Service was friendly but inexperienced- dropping cutlery, getting us to move our glasses round the table so they could fit the food on. Definitely wouldn?t return
