First time here & we were pleasantly surprised. We had a carvery & a dessert off the festive menu & with two alcoholic drinks for the two of us, it came to less than £40.The only criticism was the serving spoons for the carvery were too hot to handle, so you had to wrap a serviette around each of the spoons, to be able to handle them.

Went there for a Xmas catch up. Seemed organised and well prepared for us. The carvery was decent choices. Good meat choices including lamb and decent portion. And veg was decent. Dessert was OK (had an apple crumble) chocolate brownie looked very good. Good value at £14 for 2 courses. Seems to be a solid choice no frills but good value.

The restaurant was very quiet, which was fine, there were several staff members to welcome us. But after they took our order.. Staff seemed to disappear on and off. We asked for bottomless drinks, these glasses didn't come. We had to ask for them. The peas in the carvery were dried from the heat lamps. We asked for more and waited for them.Next the gravy warmer was being repaired whilst we were sitting literally next to it. With a handyman scraping and repairing the wiring nosily whilst we had our meal.We should have been moved by staff out of consideration. We had to remind staff for the side plate we asked for when we ordered.I had to ask desserts for us to be ordered. They didn't inform me that it was the same price for a kids meal as for a kid carvery and pudding included. I had to find that out for myself. We then ordered 3 desserts. This took an age.We ordered a crumble as one dessert, with whipped cream. It wasn't whipped cream, It was sweetened squirty cream. Very different. The crumble was also very sweet and topping wasn't very crisp/was quite stodgy. We had to request and pay for the bill.Overall the place seemed quite run down and staff had lost their lustre and attention to customer needs and details. Kitchen flow seemed slow and disorganised alsoWe were very disappointed.

Thank you Karen & Carol. Had booked a table but was unable to get to the booking on time.Carol done everything she could to help! Karen (manger) got us a last minute table so we were able to enjoy a wonderful meal with fantastic service and great atmosphere. Thanks once again guys.

The server (I'm really hoping was new) but she was telling us we were wrong about what we could order, telling us the Little Tummies menu was only M-F when the menu we were showing her clearly showed a Saturday and the more expensive Sunday option. We ordered fruit shoots for the kids - received squash. Couldn't work the tablet ordering service. We sat down, and she was on us quick as a flash to order but when we needed a couple more minutes she was was nowhere to be seen. We had to go find a server for everything. We went at 2.30pm so not prime busy time.Lamb was hard as rock what I was given anyway. And the floor...... jeeze that thing needs an industrial clean. Worse than the end of the night at a club ?Edited: No, we didn't speak to the manager as the kids had started drinking them, and given the lack of service, we just wanted to eat our dinner and leave. I'm sorry for but for £55 we would have expected much better service. Having been in the hospitality service myself, you never say no in the event you are unsure, you don't say no without checking first and then by all means say no. The server clearly had no idea what she was doing, and sadly, even my 4 year old picked up on it.

I'm very disappointed. I normally love Toby Carvery, so I tried Lympstone for a change. Food was barely lukewarm, limited choice, skimpy meat serving, didn't even come to take a drunk order. Offered a replacement meal AFTER we finished , too late. Won't be going back.

The location and car park are good and the food choice from the carvery is excellent and is also very tasty and hot, this is not always the case in other carvery's, add to this the ambience of the building and you have all the ingredients for an enjoyable night out, but, if you then add in the excellent and professional service from the chef and staff, plus the good value, you have all the ingredients for an excellent and fantastic night out. A big thank you to Karen and the team . All eleven of us have said that we will return, probably many times,

Not up to usual Toby standards.. Had to wait approximately 5 minutes for veg trays to be replenished.. as beans and peas were empty..and cabbage which never got replenished..stuffing was like a rock. Mashed potatoes were all dry and powdery as if they had been sitting uncovered for a long time.. then had to ask for sauce bowls to be replenished as they were empty..

We were shown to our table told to go and queue when we were ready.after queuing for 20 or 30 mins the beef was almost gone and i was served the "ends" of the joint which were mostly fat and grissle.the chef cutting the meat was the most miserable man i ve ever met. A young boy was assisting him throwing pots about as if he really didnt want to be there! A lot of the veg was empty by the time we were served and no sign of it being filled while we were there either. When we went to pay it came to £38 something..we payed £40 cash and was not offered any change.it should be our choice to tip if we please!!Will NOT be visiting a Toby Carvery in a hurry again! Really disappointed

Been to lots of Tobys, this is the same as the rest, honest food at reasonable prices. The only fault here was they dont of late, have lamb available at the carvery. Today, they did have, unfortunately, it was rather tough, so perhaps it was mutton !

I feel you are very under staffed, most of the food wasn't out and had the end tiny bit of lamb, had food there before as got put on a table for 4 and there were 5 of us. Services was slow and didn't have half the puddings. Needs sorting out!!!

They feed an army! There were hundreds of people in the quoue and me and my family waited an hour to get to the counter! They shouldn't let so many people in. Roast cost 15 quid PP on a sunday, and its nice that you can go back for refills if it wasn't for the 1 hour waiting time. Both the plates and the forks were very hot and burnt our hands. They do give napkins but it doesn't help it. And on top of everything the meat was chevy and unpleasent.

We had veggie only carvery and felt the choice wasn't quite what it usually is. No red cabbage which is my favourite and maybe some broccoli would be nice. I didn't have any green veg as I don't like peas or sprouts and they were the only green options. Loved the mac n cheese.

Absolutely Awful! We was a party of seven that choose to dine here midweek of our holiday at Devon cliffs holiday park. We booked 5 days before our arrival to your pub. We had a wait of 10 minutes. Tables was left extremely dirty with plates, glasses, whilst staff was doing nothing but standing chatting. Once we sat to a table we was able to see that the carvery area was extremely dirty, food on floor, counter. Food not replenish had to ask and wait, with then staff not being happy about it. Extremely miserable and unprofessional.I booked for my family to come here and was very upset at the conditions we felt. I wanted to walk straight back out, felt so embarrassed. I remember this being the Nutwell Lodge and a beautiful restaurant. What happened here?Hardly any of us had eaten what we choose from carvery, after deciding to give it a try!All of it was just Awful! Thinking about it now I still feel sick.I wished we started on our holiday park and had a take away.I don't ever do reviews or feedback. But feel I need to at this place to make sure that no-one else makes mistakes.Unfortunately I will also be making other reviews of our experience.Dirty restaurant, dirty miserable carvery staff, dirty carvery area,Dishes of vegetables, piled 2 high to replace, but had a wait on yorkers, roasters, stuffing. We will never return! Hopefully our extended family who will also be holidaying at devon cliff's will not visit your pub.Parking: Easy to find a space
