We have visited the Imperial hotel before & were pleased with it. On this last occasion we were part of a group from Fareham for a weekend break. The staff in all departments were friendly & helpful & made our stay pleasant & happy to be there. The food was exceptionally good & could not be bettered. It was cooked & presented in a quality first class way & tasted delicious. Apparently the food was cooked by just two chefs. I can't praise them enough & they are a credit to the hotel. However all the staff at the reception, bar, & restaurant were all friendly & helpful & always looked happy. So well done & thanks to all of them.Rooms: The rooms were very comfortable, quiet & roomy. And we had a lovely view across to the sea.Nearby activities: A national trust property 'A la Ronde' is nearby & Just need to check opening times before visiting. There are bus routes to various places including Exeter, Sidmouth & many more.Walkability: The hotel is close to the sea but set back from the road. There are various walking routes around the area or nearby.Food & drinks: Cannot fault the food at all. It was much better than expected. A selection from a 3-course menu each night. Breakfast was a buffet type with an excellent choice.

Having just spent 4nights at this hotel we were very impressed with how we were treated from reception. A lovely welcoming smile. swift booking in.our room was clean plenty of cupboard space and the usual tray of tea coffee etc also a super sea view. Food in the restaurant was to a very high standard and bar drinks reasonable priced. The staff were very pleasant and nothing to much trouble. All in all a very pleasant stay and will certainly return Peter and Margaret DawsonWalkability: Very close to town and sea front

It's fine for a night or 2 but the rooms are a bit dated and small for a stay any longer. Staff were polite and friendly though, didn't try the food.

Warning. The lift does not go to all rooms some are on split levels, with up to two flights of stairs to negotiate with luggage.Stayed over the New Years long weekend. Breakfast was buffet style and food was only warm unless you asked for a different cooked egg which came out piping hot. New Years Eve Dinner certainly was not as advertised in their brochure. The pre dinner manager?s cocktail reception and canapés never happened. You went straight into the restaurant for the 5 course dinner which consisted of starter, mains, dessert, tea/coffee and a mince pie. When seated at your table you were served with a glass of Buck?s Fizz. The one male singer started off ok at 8.15 pm but by 9.30 pm you could not hear yourself think let alone have a conversation with your group as he got louder and louder and louder. So by 10.30pm people started to leave and watched the new year fireworks from their bedrooms, with the countdown on the tv instead. Would return but not for New Year. Overall if it had been a normal time we would have given 10/10 for the bedroom and staff and quality of food served at dinner time. Breakfast though 3/10. The staff could not do enough and this hotel should be grateful for their attention to detail and willingness to help. Very well done to you all.

Superb value seafront accommodation. Spent 1 night here last week & for the £32 I paid I wasn't expecting much at all. However the hotel far exceeded my expectations with everything from the nice decor, the newly refurbished bathroom, to the lovely setting of the onsite restaurant, bar & seating area, lobby, the grounds outside - truly couldn't fault anything. Staff were really nice too. My single room was on the first floor with a seaview & was extremely quiet for a good night's sleep. Premier inn opposite here wanted £90+ for the night, I got this place for a third of that & it was excellent. Plenty of onsite parking too. Clean towels & really comfy bed, decent wi-fi. Great location aswell - through the gates it leads straight on to the seafront which is extremely close to some pubs & restaurants and the nice local theatre for live shows. Town centre is only a short walk aswell. This will definitely be the place I use from now on during my trips to the lovely area of Exmouth.

We went to a wake at the hotel last week, for a friend. The food was beautiful and the service outstanding. Could not recommend it more highly.

Nice hotel, rooms need tlc but public areas were fine. Lovely staff, friendly and courteous provided great service. Food was excellent and highly recommended, choice of 4 starters, 4 mains and 4 desserts. Breakfast was help yourself with a wide variety to choose from. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend the Imperial.
