Have been a regular but over the last few visits the service has been flat and the recurring issue is the lack of organisation and speed from the staff. Today I waited 20mins for a flat white!? There were 4 staff and it wasn't that busy, no one seemed present or in control. The cakes are good, the coffee is ok but the slow service needs addressing and this means you?ve lost a customer for now I?m afraid.
Edit in response to owners edit- I?m afraid you are incorrect, at the time of my visit the grinder worked fine as I witnessed it for a very long 20mins being used. The coffee maker was prioritising moving cartons of oat milk a few inches and visiting the toilet several times during the space of 10mins instead of efficiently dealing with the backlog of drinks. It seems 2 people would be better on the coffee machine and then prep for the following day in between busy periods. I?m aware of how a cafe works. It?s just a shame other comparable businesses seem to manage it more efficiently, hence my initial review.

I visited on Monday for the first time, after I got recommended by a friend of mine to try their pastries. It did not disappoint! I had probably the best fruit danish I have ever tasted- buttery and flakey pastry with home made pastry cream! The atmosphere was very friendly and one of their staff was very helpful to recommend which pastry to choose!

The cakes are lovely, the coffee is OK, but the service is poor.
I've visited twice and the staff don't seem happy to be serving.
In the c.20 minutes I was there today, my coffee was forgotten, and the two paninis requested by another customer were forgotten, with the 3 or 4 staff all confused whether any of them had the order under control.
For the length of my visit, they were more interested in slagging off another group of people who, for discretion I won't mention the names of; but they made no secret of the fact they were not fans. They were also openly sharing their opinions about certain groups of their customer base which was really disappointing. Sure it's retail and sure you wont like all customers but there's a time and place for these conversations. Behind the counter isn't it. This is not the way to run a professional business and I won't be returning.
Edit in response to owners comment: Maybe they weren't panninis, but some kind of warm ciabatta/sandwich; and I wasn't being attentive to another customers order. The sarcasm in your response speaks volumes...
The conversations were loud enough to be easily heard in the seating area and not a great atmosphere for customers. I do understand why you'd say I have the conversation wrong however, but I know what I heard. And I don't have a dog, so I'm not sure who that was.

We visited during busy weekend and their doughnuts were definitely worth the wait. They make everything by themselves and it is amazing how efficient they are in such a small space. Also thank you goes to one of their kind staff, who advised what flavours to choose!

What an amazing coffee shop visited for the first time today.It was buzzing great atmosphere friendly smiley faces to greet you. What they achieve in a relatively small space is really something. The goodies on display are mouth watering such a variety. I encourage you to pop in and see for yourselves you will not be disappointed.

This is a busy independent little cafe. It?s busy because the food, which is all made on site, is FANTASTIC. When you get into the shop, you?ll see a rich display of large homemade doughnuts, pastries, slices of cake and flapjacks. Every time I go in with one treat in mind, I come out with another because everything is so tempting and the portion size is EXCELLENT. The shop inside is small so you?ll often join the queue outside the shop ?but once you?ve been, it?s easy to see why it?s so popular. Nice one Ridge.x

The Ridge is an unmissable spot on Exeter?s Quayside and one that I rarely go a week without frequenting! My partner and I recently enjoyed the rhubarb/raspberry danish as well as their nectarine/blueberry danish, which came recommended by one of the cafes lovely waitresses ? A special mention must go to Alicia, whose iced americano is the best I?ve had in Exeter to date and who is never without a smile for customers and colleagues alike. A perfect stop off for all your cravings whether they be sweet, savoury or caffeinated!

Amazing food and very friendly staff with amazing customer service. They were helpful in helping recommend food and drink options and they were spot on. Highly recommend! Although it is a small place, you can grab takeaway food and sit down the quay where the views are amazing. Food is fresh and made daily which is something that is not common in other places these days ! Highly recommend going and I will be going again!
