Exceptional Experience at Samuel Jones ? Sunday, 16th February
I booked a table in advance for my husband?s birthday and had an absolutely delightful experience. Upon arriving at the bar, we were greeted by a lovely lady who promptly served our drinks and kindly offered to check our table location. She even took the time to personally seat us?a thoughtful touch that set the tone for the lunch.
Having spent most of my career in hospitality, I?ve noticed that genuine customer service seems to be a rare find these days. However, the Samuel Jones team excelled in every way, embodying what true hospitality should be. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, quickly clearing tables and ensuring every guest felt well cared for. It was clear that they genuinely enjoyed their work and believed in the food they recommended, which made our experience even more special.
We opted for the roast menu and were blown away by the quality. The beef brisket was beautifully cooked, accompanied by fabulous roast potatoes and perfectly prepared traditional vegetables. It exceeded all our expectations?more like high-end restaurant food than typical pub food.
The meal was topped off with a staff-recommended crumble that was simply fabulous.
Our whippet was also treated like a VIP! The staff gave her attention too, providing a complimentary dog bed, treats, a water bowl, and even a doggy menu. These thoughtful details truly elevated the experience.
Special thanks to Tilly, Mati, and Ryan, who all went above and beyond. Ryan, you should be incredibly proud of your team and the experience you?ve created. It?s no small feat to deliver such impeccable service, food, and atmosphere in today?s world. We can?t wait to return!

Great location by the Quayside. Relaxed friendly atmosphere with Sky Sports for those who like sport. Excellent service by Crystal who was relatively new to waitressing. She was polite and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We had dinner with friends and the steak was fabulous. Delicious cheesecake too. Really enjoyed our dinner to celebrate a big birthday. We will return.

Lovely riverside pub. Great food with interesting flavours - the fish and chips got top marks. Really good service from Crystal, who was polite and helpful. It was a quiet weekday lunchtime so can't comment too much on the atmosphere but it worked for us at that time of day.

Dropped in for lunch in a group of 6. Had incredibly welcoming and accommodating staff, and the food was really great. All the staff were super helpful, but especially Louie really helped us out.
It has a great atmosphere, and nice selection of food and drink. Good beers too!
Kid-friendliness: We had an 18 month old with us, felt really kid friendly - but still a grown up space.
