I gave 3 stars for the room becaus3 I've not stayed at the Mill as a guest. Location is brilliant. I went with a friend and sank some pints with a cheesy chips. The cheese was strong and chips crispy which is how I like them. The the portion a bit too small for the price though. Staff very friendly and welcoming and we got fireside sofas, although no fire actually burning but the atmosphere is all there. We went in the mid afternoon so it was quiet but I imagine it gets busy on weekends and evenings. Cheers
Nearby activities: Walking, cycling, bike hire, kayak, canoe, nd SUP hire, Rock climbing centre, Exeter Quay, iron bridge walk up into town across the road.

Went on a Saturday night, lovely location.
Biggest drawback was no staff at the bar, it was as if they assumed everyone would order on an app.
Downstairs was busy and that bar closed at 9, no additional staff at only serving bar.
Shame really. Otherwise it?s a cracking location.

Amazing Riverside Atmosphere ??
Mill on the Exe plays host to a fantastic setting and atmosphere on the banking of Exeter Quay. With plenty of seating both inside and out, and with great decor to match, there truly is not a bad seat in the house. ?
? For our food we tried the Salt and Pepper Squid, house Burgers as well as the seafood sharer ? All food was fresh and the seafood platter was a plentiful portion! Presentation was slightly lacking on both our starters and burgers, but made up for it in flavour ?
Whether you are having a drink by the river side or a family meal by the bar, Mill on the Exe is an Exeter must visit! ?
? Recommendations: Salt and Pepper Squid, Seafood Sharer ?
?? Drawbacks: Presentation of food
? Squid Rating: 8/10

Fancy place with great food selection. Nearing summer you could come here and have dinner and have a nice walk down to the Quay. Cannot think of a better place to bring your first date.
Mostly locals and much less students because of the steeper price compared to neighboring premises.
A nice place set up down by the river to have a beer.

Pretty environment along the river. Was there for Sunday Roast. Food was impressive. Has large TVs showing live sports program. Comfy place to spend a relaxing Sunday. Better make reservation for peak days
Food and drinks: We didn?t stay in this hotel. Just come here for Sunday lunch

Ok. We went here for Sunday lunch today and I have to say, the staff and service were excellent but I was absolutely appalled at the amount of food I got for a roast lunch for £21!!! This is not a small amount of money for a communal lunch not a bespoke meal.
I do NOT need quantity over quality and prefer the latter but my plate was less than half full when it arrived (a normal sized plate) I had two half slices of beef, one small floret of broccoli, one quarter parsnip, half a carrot, a small bit of cauliflower cheese and some scrapings of cabbage. The food was quite nice, not outstanding but it was ridiculous.
I am not a large man. I am not a greedy man. But I expect to leave here feeling like I have been fed properly especially for £21 for what is a fairly well trodden path of a Sunday lunch. I am really, really, really disappointed and if they are struggling to make money with what they charged me then it is clear, they will not be in business for much longer.
What a fall from grace in my eyes!

Generally underwhelmed. Nice location/building. Food overpriced and the steak sandwich was only available as rare or well done. Ale selection disappointing for a St Austell pub. Might visit again in the summer but for drinks only.

Nice location, reasonable choice of gluten free options, though we were disappointed they had run out of fish and chips.

Stayed here for two nights. It only has eleven rooms and each has its own allocated parking space in a small separate car park. Greeted by a very friendly and helpful guy at the reception. We had a room over looking the beer garden and river which was clean, comfortable and well decorated. Breakfast was great, one of the best full English breakfasts I've eaten, cooked to order with quality bacon and sausages. My wife had the smashed avocado which was also excellent. The two staff were also brilliant, friendly and efficient.
Highly recommended as an alternative choice to the big hotels in the area.
Rooms: Clean and smartly decorated. The bed was large and comfortable.
Nearby activities: Only a 10 minute walk into the city centre, cathedral and museum.
Food and drinks: High quality and plenty of choice.

Food is great. Does take a while though.
