Unfortunately - the bad reviews are true. Really not worth the time or visit here, the kind of place that looks good aesthetically but when you walk in you?re met with stares, not comfy or inviting. Me and my partner walked in really optimistic and looking forward to seeing the selection of fresh locally baked goods, to be disappointed by not much selection, nothing unique and incredibly overpriced. We said a big hello to the staff at the till only to be met with someone quite unfriendly, felt like we were an inconvenience, there was no chat and the customer service is seriously lacking, so we quickly purchased two baked goods and sat across the road to eat them. We were asked if we were eating in or out - there?s no price change if you eat out.. and unfortunately all this could have been overlooked but both me and my partner agreed the baked goods we had weren?t great and def not worth the price or special effort we made to visit. The whole ?instagramable? vibe is there with people having pics outside the store.. but if you want a friendly warm inviting atmosphere and fab baked goods this isn?t your place.

Hands down the best pastries in Exeter! Great hospitality! Excellent coffee as well (always the perfect temperature)This little gem of a bakery is run by a lovely couple who work hard making all their pastries, bread, cakes and cookies from scratch. One of the only cafes in Exeter to open early, great for a pre-work coffee.Prices are fair and reflect the great quality of their pastries and ingredients used.Like all great places there will probably be a queue, so try to go early to avoid disappointment.

Visited this place several times. Whilst the cakes/pastries have always been great, the hot drinks and welcoming feel have not been. The hot drinks have been quite hit and miss, sometimes they're hot, sometimes they're weak, it's never consistent. They have improved since they've opened though. The opening times also often change frequently and they sometimes close when they'd normally be open. I wouldn't make a plan to go here as you don't know if they'd actually end up being open that day or if there's any cakes left. But the customer service has remained the same. No 'service with a smile', no welcoming feel, no accommodating feel, no extra help if you need it. I will say, however, the food/drink is delivered within a timely manner.Bit disappointing especially with the price you're paying! It's more of a young hipster place, where if you are fully able and without children, then it's fine, else it's not a great place to go.Great if you just want to Instagram the cakes and nice plates and little cups of coffee and little old forks, but if you actually care about customer service and 'service with a smile' and feeling welcome then not the best place to go!Jimmy's, shillingford cafe and even John Lewis cafe is much better for staff actually helping the customer and have a smile on their face when they serve you. I think I've seen the staff show good customer service in 1 in every 10 customers, especially if the staff know the customer. No highchairs, no baby changing facilities, certain buggies or even just wheelchairs will struggle getting through to the toilets, and don't expect any help or sympathy from the staff.Maybe just get a takeaway cake, but get your hot drink and good customer service from Jimmy's or shillingford cafe, or anywhere else!

Easily the best bakery in Exeter. Amazing muffins, cruffins, pastries, cakes and coffee.

I'm so conflicted about this cafe - definitely one of the best coffees and pastries I have had in a while. Unfortunately the atmosphere and general feeling of not being welcome is bringing this place down for me. Maybe it's just for locals who know the owners? It's a shame as the cafe itself is lovely.

Amazing coffee, and the pastries are unreal!

The pastries here are AMAZING and the coffee is really good coffee! The staff are polite and they bring the drinks to you once you've ordered. Just a warning because it is small there are lots of stools and only a few actual chairs, so if you have mobility problems check there's a chair before you order. However saying that, we keep going back as the quality is the best in Exeter.

Super yummy vegan blueberry muffin, great size and deliciously moist! Perfect size oat flat white, the coffee was really smooth and not bitter. Cool vibes, thank you!

My favorite cafe in Exeter! The pastries, sourdough bread and cakes are so delicious :?) Today I had a weekend special cruffin with creme fraiche custard and housemade jam (it was one of my faves!!) ?but the weekend flavors change all the time so expect something new. The coffee is also amazing, served in beautifully made ceramic cups. They have a house espresso, as well as a rotating guest one for an up charge, plus a daily filter brew. The space is super cool and chill, great music, etc. but can be VERY busy on the weekends. So be prepared for things to sell out fast and to be vying for a table.

When it?s open and hasn?t run out it?s excellent! Great cakes and pastries, super coffee. Opening hours are a disaster. Runs out very early in the day. I often don?t consider it because of how unreliable it is, shame really.

Great cakes and rolls, and the coffee I had perked me up. Rustic, and worth a visit.
