I?d go for 3.5/5 for food if I could but only because of the bacon: it was really dry and salty and I can?t quite put my finger on how they cooked it. However: the rest of the meal was delicious - good eggs, bread, and avocado.
Coffee was nice and the spot has a nice ambience.

Phil is very outgoing and friendly, and has run the place for 25 years. Do try his homemade ice cream, it's in short supply and he makes it himself! ? There is a lovely upstairs and dining room with bay windows opening towards Exeter castle which is a wedding venue.
Only one toilet down in the basement, you may have to wait for it!

Went with a friend for a belated birthday treat.
Good food. The staff are very friendly as well. They gave us some food recommendations as we were unsure on what cakes we wanted. Would definitely go back again.

We had a terrific gado - gado salad as lunch. Coming from the Netherlands, we know our Indonesian food and this absolutely checked all the boxes. Fresh and crispy ingredients and proper authentic taste. All this in a lovely atmosphere combined with very friendly service. If you want to have a great lunch in Exeter, look no further! Highly recommended.
