Confused pricing strategy and ungracious management, which is a shame because the food and service was otherwise good.

We didn't go all put on food, just had a main and dessert. That came to just under 100 pound including drinks, however the food and service was amazing and I would happily go back!

We visited for Sunday lunch. The starter buffet worked very well with good choice - something for everyone. Our main courses were nicely presented and excellent quality. The bistro is lovely and airy, overlooking the garden - wonderful, especially on a sunny day.The staff were the real stars. We were taking two elderly relatives with poor mobility out for lunch and both the staff on reception and in the bistro were outstanding. They could not have been more friendly or helpful. If I could give the service 6 stars I would. Highly recommended.

Absolutely amazing! Great place if you want to go somewhere to dress up and be treated wonderfully!Staff were amazing, weren?t in your face, made the odd joke which was lovely but remained polite and professional.Food was fantastic, the mains took a little while coming out. We each had the Tiger prawns for starters, they tasted great! My partner had the beef bourguignon and described it as ?lush?. I had the rib eye steak cooked medium rare which was amazing, wasn?t chewy and cooked to perfection. For desserts my partner had the crème brûlée and stated it was perfect. I had the Black Forest mousse - for those of you who like rich chocolate and liqueur fruit I would recommend! The wine list was as long as my arm and the Sauvignon Blanc was especially lovely!Generally a wonderful dining experience would definitely go again!!!!

What makes a great evening? Good company, great food & fine wine! The Bistro at @hotelduvin in Exeter last night was exceptional ?We enjoyed our dinner in a very elegant, warm & relaxing setting supported by attentive & knowledgeable staff ?The Bistro is serving classical French dishes with a modern twist, contemporary yet traditional finishesTheir signature dish the Beef Bourguignon was fantastic (a true classic)The Tiger Prawns were delicious, if I could change something it would be if the dish was served with a bit of bread (It?s a shame that you can?t mope up the wonderful sauce on your plate!)Finally, the Apple Tarte was exceptionally tasty ?

A group of us of five friends went for lunch on the 31st, it wasn?t very busy but the food was excellent. I had the Sunday roast and the meat was tender and delicious. The 2/3 course menu is great value and the French table of starters had some excellent salads. The dining room is renovated with lovely lights and wall paper - overall excellent dining experience.

7 of us in the party. Bill >£600 Not a good experience. First course, one starter missing, our starters cooled as we waited. One starter was Onion soup which was too salty Second course, one main course wrong Third course, fruit selection was tasteless.

Great tasting menu and great service from Jake and Alice- we were really impressed with both of them. This is not a Michelin tasting menu, so set your expectations for a well presented and well cooked bistro tasting menu. Really honest and delicious food value food with well paired wines. Our only real negative observation was the really small bar area and no residents lounge. This area is not large enough for the size of hotel. We were offered seats in the corridor however chose to go to another cocktail bar for pre dinner drinks.

We ate here on a Saturday night. Restaurant was quietish apart from one table of around 12 people. Waiting staff very friendly and good humoured. Excellent French onion soup, prawns and a very good ribeye steak. My wife?s baked sea bass was very good but quite small. Very much enjoyed our meal and would recommend but the room was very cold - seemed to be the first cool day for a while and the heating took an age to really do its job.

After a lovely 4 day stay I felt compelled to review the Hotel Du Vin Exeter. The room was gorgeous, swimming pool a lovely treat when travelling with business, but what really made it was the lovely team. Nothing was too much trouble, a special mention to Helen and the lovely breakfast crew, so friendly and thoughtful, a credit to the hotel. I?ll be back (next time for a holiday rather than work!).

We had dinner in the Bistro while staying at Hotel du Vin Exeter. After a starter platter to share, I had the Navarin of Lamb which was full of flavour, the rice was cooked perfectly, a lighter option than a steak after exploring the city for a day. My partner had the Salmon Fishcake which was super, again full of flavour. The restaurant was busy with a real atmosphere, We were looked after by Jake for the evening and he couldn't have done a better job making sure we had everything we needed and recommending the excellent and theatrical 'Baked Alaska' dessert which we shared. The Bistro is under a modern dome and this makes for a bright airy space. one of the walls is all glass with views over the very well kept garden, the kitchen is semi open too adding to the sense of space. We liked this, but if your after somewhere intimate and romantic, it might not be for you. We felt the meal was excellent value for the quality of the food, the good atmosphere and the excellent service.Vegetarian options: Our son had Mac & Cheese which he thoroughly enjoyed.Kid-friendliness: We took our teenage son, he enjoyed the meal, and was included in proceedings by the staff, excellent.Parking: There's a small carpark at the front of the hotel, if you're lucky you will get a space, paid parking a minutes walk away. Also a very short walk from the city centre (10 mins tops) so if you're already parked up, the walk wont kill you!Wheelchair accessibility: I'm pretty sure there are no steps between the carpark and the Bistro
