Nice friendly pub with character, and full of local people who were as welcoming as the Landlord. OK it is at the top of the hill but worth the climb.

Had a fantastic night here at the Red Lion ,a wonderful meal and nothing was to much trouble, food was cooked to order by a French chef to very high standard, and the locals were very friendly which made the evening all the more enjoyable. Great night out. Don't believe some of the bad remarks previously made.

Love this place. It?s the heart of the village. Shop, post office and pub all rolled into one and run by friendly, hard working staff. The pub is full of character, dog friendly with amazing homemade food. The best mussels and scallops. Fabulous pie and mash. The dauphinois potatos and homemade chips are fantastic.

I think other reviewers have mixed this pub up with the ferry boat inn, which is far better. This establishment is run by two ladies. One in particular is extremely rude and should not be in the industry, let alone dittisham. You almost have to visit to believe how rude and dam right miserable people can be. On a previous visit they had a young man employee that was absolutely amazing, but he has since moved on. Unfortunately this is now solely in the hands off two grumpy ladies. I have unfortunately had to award it one star due to not being allowed to put zero. Poke your head around the door at your peril!!!

Popped in with friends after visiting the area. Never been in a pub like it. Pub come Post Office come Shop! We were served ok but only went in for drinks over lunchtime. Glad visited but would not go back.

Wanted a hot drink after a lovely long walk in a beautiful area...walked into the shabby bar to be ignored by the person behind the bar who was on a personal call and couldn't even acknowledge that we were there...we certainly felt like we were an inconvenience being there. Asked if we could sit outside but told that they were short staffed and the outside area was closed (we only wanted to take our drinks outside so not sure what difference it made that they were short staffed as we would have carried our drinks ourselves). Whole place was a mess with paperwork all over the bar and a shabby looking local shop on one side of the bar area. Definitely somewhere to be avoided.

During a walk with my heavily pregnant wife, we decided to pop into this pleasant looking restaurant for a rest and a bite to eat. As we entered the building an incredibly rude woman asked ?what we wanted? without even the decency to say hello. I would strongly advise to give this place a miss as it appears they lack manners in hospitality. However, I would add the gentleman there is rather pleasant and is clearly putting the effort in to making up for the atrocious attitude of the lady serving.

If you want to ruin a pleasent holiday in Dittisham this is the place to do it. Booked the Red Lion for two nights as the only place that had space to accomodate us and our three dogs but got bad mouthed by the owners and staff as soon as they had taken our money, where reasonably pleasent untill then! Terrace shut even though it was August and covered in the owners dogs mess. Needless to say tried to book elsewhere immediately.

Have come and stayed in Dittisham for a couple of years now and the Red Lion is a very different pub as it?s part shop, post office etc like people have said. We have never had a bad meal here and it has been lovely and enjoyable and reasonably priced. The staff are friendly l, helpful and throw a bit of banter! Far from being rude like someone mentioned in a review so please ignore that as I for one can not see how that is true. I do agree it does need a tidy up as it?s looking tired hence why I gave 4 stars not 5 but don?t let this put you off. I would certainly eat there again and have drink.

We had breakfast here this morning , all quality fresh Ingredients and would definately return. Please visit when visiting Dittisham as it is so rare to Find such a community hub serving a post office shop B and B and restaurant which offers something to everybody.

This place USED to be amazing. Cozy atmosphere, classy decor, great food. Now it's just a mess. Such a waste of a beautiful building in an incredible location.

Lovely pub in a great location friendly staff make for a very enjoyable place for a pint. They are only serving pizza at present & although they are excellent if you live or are staying locally it can become a little boring. Prices are expensive but your paying for the location.Overall well worth a visit
