Always a great breakfast to set you up for the day. Busy all year, tends to be a queue to be seated in summer months, however some things are worth waiting for.

A very, very poor lunch.Dirty table, terrible service and just a god awful steak sandwich. Why this was listed as a place to visit, I'll never know.Avoid.

We remember Cafe Alf Resco opening in Dartmouth many years ago. So it was good to return after a very long time, when visiting the town. In fairness, we only had two cappuccino coffees on this occasion - which happened to be very good. But the place had lost none of its chilled atmosphere and it was clear that customers were relaxed and enjoying the ambience. We noticed our phones dropped their signal indoors, so were pleased to be able to easily pick up the restaurant's wifi. Staff were friendly and helpful as ever.

This looked to be one of the most frequented places of its kind in Dartmouth and is very busy at peak times. Breakfasts are popular. We had a baguette each for lunch - very substantial. The young, energetic staff were very pleasant and helpful. We would go back again.Parking: No parking available. If you are lucky you might find some street parking nearby.

Disappointed. Atmosphere is good but food is overpriced, quantity and quality poor and service lacking. £10.95 for 2 bacon, 1 undercooked small sausage, 1 tomato, 2 fried eggs and 2 slices of toast. Won't be returning or recommending.

Stopped for breakfast this morning. Really good. Bacon on the breakfast was excellent, decent breakfast stop with a nice coffee.

It is a shame to experience the noticeable decline of standards at the beloved breakfast/lunch cafe colloquially known as ?Alfs.' Over the course of many years, I have been a loyal patron, consistently relishing both the service and the quality of the food. However, this year, my visit left me taken aback due to a significant drop in service levels and the attitude of the staff. Despite being second in line, I found myself waiting for an excessive 15 minutes just to place my order. The delay was primarily attributed to the fact that the staff member responsible for taking orders was also tasked with crafting smoothies. The customer ahead of me ordered four smoothies, a task that consumed an undue amount of time. When I finally had the chance to voice my concern about this to the same staff member, I was met with a rather impolite and indifferent response. She asserted that it was standard procedure for the order-taker to prepare smoothies, dismissing my observation to the contrary. I couldn't help but find this response somewhat amusing, considering that I had been frequenting 'Alfs' since long before she likely even entered school. This entire encounter left me feeling deeply unsatisfied. To compound the issue, as I attempted to voice my concern, the queue behind me had grown to approximately seven patrons, all growing increasingly impatient. This incident has left me pondering whether it's time to explore alternative dining options next year, as my experience at 'Alfs' no longer aligns with the high standards I have come to expect. I hope my feedback serves as constructive criticism, as it is my sincere hope that 'Alfs' can regain its reputation for excellence in both service and cuisine that has drawn customers like me for many years.

I Ordered a cheese toastie which came as one slice of bread with some melted cheese on it- so cheese on toast. Felt ripped off as it being nearly £10, and the tea pot and cup were dirty. The salad that came with the half sandwich had visible dirt on it! We received very minimal service the entire time I was there. Won?t be coming back.

Been going to Alf Resco?s for at least 20 years now and it?s always been fantastic. Little disappointed on my last 2 visits. I think some of the ingredients have been changed to cheaper alternatives. Noticed the sausage and bread (maybe butter) didn?t taste as good as I remember. Also order perhaps the worst cold brew coffee I?ve ever had. Tasted very weak at tasteless. Feel like they?ve dropped the bar a little bit. Hope it regains its attention to detail

We waited until after the regatta week when it was more quiet to give this place a go. It was a lot quieter the following week, but it was not worth the wait. Staff as mentioned on many other reviews don?t seem to have a clue what?s going on. The food we ordered was burnt, not just one item but every item. Turning the food over it was just as burnt on the other side if not worse. We have camped in fields with hardly any equipment and had scouts cook better meals than this on their first attempt. How do you burn tomatoes! How do you burn eggs? We realised from the menu that the breakfast had no beans, or mushrooms or any other items. But to pay the price they asked, for four burnt items is not a breakfast. The cutlery was dirty so we went to get more, which was also dirty. We gave up trying to find anything clean. We understand that the cafe used to have a cool image, but it is certainly not a great experience.
