A fantastic community run pub with a welcoming atmosphere. Enjoy a pint on the benches outside, bask in the sun and watch the world go by

Lovely friendly locally owned pub. Dog friendly in first section. Great selection of local beers and ciders. Had dinner and the highlights were the salmon pâté & pork chop. Loved the onion baji & Bream lentil curry. Fish and chips are massive. Will highly recommend thanks for the great hospitality

This is a lovely place for a meal out. They are open all week, with food Wednesday to Saturday. It is a community run pub and the volunteers couldn't do enough to serve. The two course deal (£19.50) is very good value. We even got to see some Morris dancers. The pub has a lovely atmosphere, the fish was really fresh and if you order one of the selected drinks between 5:30-6:30, you can have a free one later (or get a whole pint/large wine for the price of a half pint/small wine). It is a real hub of the local community, but everyone is made to feel welcome. Definitely worth a visit.

Very rude staff..food was awful and sent back and they then wanted to charge us for it..also had to pre order and because 2 x.guests did not turn up they also wanted to charge us for the food..very very expensive so don't go there if on a budget because portions very small..a very unpleasant experience

Quaint little 16th century pub in the heart of East Budleigh.
Quiet, cozy atmosphere with an amazingly friendy staff!
The food was very good, but the portions were a little on the small side. The chicken in my curry was slightly tough, but everyone else really enjoyed their meals.

Without any shadow of a doubt, this wonderful pub and its thoroughly charming staff are the best advert for why communities, not companies should own country pubs! Im definitely going back, frankly, I might move there to be honest! The food and drink is fantastic only bettered by the lovely people bringing it to you, look forward to seeing you all again very soon, as does Jet!

We had booked an evening meal for 19 adults and 7 children on 31 May 2025 as part of a special birthday celebration. We were delighted with the process of pre ordering, the kindness and friendliness of the serving team when we arrived and the skills of the Chef, Dan. Each one of us enjoyed our meals, we had a lovely relaxed atmosphere to be in and our evening was a great success. The pub is a community triumph! All boxes ticked!

This is a community owned pub and restaurant and deserves support! That said, good beers etc and an excellent quality for the food means it justly deserves that support!
Special dietary requirements dealt with simply and efficiently made our meals more enjoyable.... And the quality of the food prep was really worth each of the 5 stars awarded! ??????
