We were going on the Buckfastleigh steam railway and went to the cafe Birdies's.
What an amazing lady behind the counter whose name was Maddie she was amazing.
I'm celiac I asked if there was any gluten free sandwiches and she said not on the shelf but she could make with any filling that I wanted.
Totally amazing especially for gluten free definitely worth a visit for the cafe and the railway. Brilliant

Jacket potato with tuna mayonnaise at just under £9, with no garnish or anything else, was poor value especially as there was only a minimal amount of mayonnaise so the tuna was dry. Very disappointed. With just a small amount of extra effort it could have been so much better.

Visited last Saturday morning . Excellent breakfast one of the best in the area. Good quality ingredients, cooked well, excellent value and great taste. The pancake stack with bacon and maple syrup was particularly good.

Just a take away tea as we waited for the bus as the steam train was cancelled due to a track side fire. A group of us but service was smart and friendly. For a hot hot day we were impressed. Thank you!

my boyfriend took me to the otter and butterfly and we got a bit peckish so we decided to come to this little café which is really lovely as it has a toy shop/museum thing just through the other room they have lovely cake sandwiches and also normal foodThey do some lovely drinks like this amazing raspberry fizzy drink. we got some garlic bread two sandwiches the sandwiches were very lovely very filling and the garlic bread was freshly made so I really do appreciate that the decorations were very nice and the atmosphere was cute because there was lots of fake parrots
everywhere.

Visited today and ate the Half Steam Go Go. It was well presented, tasted lovely especially the bacon, poached eggs cooked to perfection ?. Staff polite and attentive. Very happy visit would highly recommend. Thankyou.

This is a cosy spot with a warm, inviting atmosphere. The decor is charming, with hanging floral arrangements and soft lighting from strings of lights. They have a display counter filled with yummy pastries like flapjacks, brownies, muffins, and cakes. Plus, there's a chalkboard menu that highlights some of their special of the day.
Great service and a fantastic view on a sunny day.
Food was well presented and delicious
Some of the dishes did feel a bit pricey for the size, but we enjoyed them so much that we felt they were worth it.?
We will be back

Maybe it was busy but given it was a bank holiday weekend they should have laid on more staff. The food was pricey and mediocre (£10.50 for a jacket potato with a scattering of cheese, a little bacon and no salad etc) they delivery was very poor indeed, we had thought bits of the meal were forgotten. There were four adults and two small children, we had been held up on the train so the children were particularly hungry. We won?t eat there again.

Had a lovely day at South Devon Railway, and went into cafe for a sandwich and cup of tea, what I thought was 3 ham sandwiches turned out to be one ham two JAM none of them had any spead on the bread and the JAM as just a small amount in the middle, you couldn't see. This cost was over £14 very expensive for what it was. Will think twice before going again.?

A really lovely place to visit and have something to eat. The breakfast is amazing! Would definitely recommend a visit! JJ and the girls that served me were friendly and helpful! Will come again!
Parking: Over 100 spots
Kid-friendliness: There is an outside play area as well as a train table inside the restaurant so you can have a coffee in almost peace
Wheelchair accessibility: Easy access to restaurant and garden

Top service from the young lady behind the counter, a bubbly demeanour, and a sparkling personality, top job guys, oh the food is great also... the "Full steam breakfast" is particularly worthwhile...

£14.40 for a small bottle of prosecco and a bottle of beer. Served in a plastic party cup. Seems a bit of a captive market with the railway. We headed to the pub in town where the same order was under £8. Good location.

Had a super tasty, filling vegetarian breakfast at this place today, what s find! The smoky beans were delicious. JJ was very welcoming and friendly. Highly recommended and the local steam train station and otters and butterfly?s sanctuary and river walk make this a great day out.
