Very sadly this is now a Greggs, no longer full English at our halfway point. Lost a gem, gained s bog standard. Why do these chains take over everything. Surprised not Costa. Won't be going in again. Have to find another nice place that does good quality breakfast.

Stopped for something to eat on journey as usual venue was closed. Restaurant had several customers already seated. There was one staff member behind the till area who only acknowledged us when we tried to sit down. She then bellowed that we had to wait to be seated. This happened to the next two groups of people also although she was more rude and mentioned that there was signage. Granted there was a chalk boarded sign but this clearly was not in the optimal site if it was being missed. People that had managed to sneak through were then moved to other tables as she was trying to close down part of the restaurant. She didn?t hide her frustrations or annoyance. Got the impression she was trying to be ready to close for the day although this was still the lunchtime period. Minimum food & drink ordered as a result. Food was ok but possibly slightly overpriced. Food waitress friendlier and politer than her colleague previously encountered. Toilets were cleaner than expected and clearly well used as witnessed during visit (they are signposted on the road as services). Wouldn?t stop again or recommend as no warm welcome for weary travellers found here.

Portacabin; bed like cardboard; location unpicturesque; breakfast service v slow for BnB guests (as done on a different till); no internet connection (data & wifi). There are far better options for almost the same price locally.

Have stopped here several times admittedly not for a good while and was totally disappointed. Walked in to find less than 12 customers all eating to be told there?s a 35 minute wait for food, we only wanted a drink anyway. Was give a menu and told to sit at a certain table. Waited quite sometime to be served, milkshake, no, no blender no smoothies either so settled for ice latte which was dreadful. Hubby drank his coffee and we left but as we left another couple arrived who wanted food and no mention of a 35 minute wait for them! Certainly will not visit again ever!

They overbooked our room. They had other rooms available but they were more expensive. We could stay in another room or two separate rooms if we would pay for it. So they made a mistake and we would have to pay for it. We didn't stay. Now waiting to get our money back.

Me and my partner were starving and hungover and depressed about our holiday ending and having to come back to the kids.. and we happened to find this little gem. My partner's still in shock at how amazing his breakfast was.. he wanted to know what sausages they used but he said he wouldn't even bother asking because it must be a secret.. he said a breakfast that good has to have secrets! I even made a strange sound as the lovely waitress put my food infront of me because it looked so amazing... even the tea was amazing, think I finished the pot in about 2 minutes, not because there wasnt enough - it was just really good tea! The eggs were cooked perfectly, well everything was! Doubt even Gordon Ramsay could've made a nicer breakfast. Our moods definitely improved 100%, not just because of the 5 star breakfast we'd just inhaled.. but because the staff were so friendly and welcoming, the waitress even complimented me on my nails and it made me feel like less of a mess! Now we're back home and we're depressed that we don't have those breakfasts here now... might even make the 4 or 5 hour journey back there just to get another one.

Admittedly this review relates to a couple of years ago - early 2021. We are from Australia and I booked in advance as the price was reasonable and the pics of the room looked good. When we pulled in, my first impressions were Oh no, my wife is going to kill me. We are right on the main road and the noise will be deafening. The rooms are located at the rear and are surprisingly quiet; rooms are spacious and lived up to the pics. My wife is coeliac and needed GF bread. They were out but one of the waitresses said she would pick some up for us for breakfast. She was as good as her word. We also had dinner. All the food was good; the staff were pleasant; accommodation well priced and more than adequate. It would be extremely disappointing if it has gone downhill since but we have fond memories of our stay. We were touring and moved on to visit Lyme Regis totally fresh and happy the next day after topping up the car with petrol from next door. We observed no hint of racism/discrimination at that time.

Stopped for breakfast, poached eggs, poorly presented, very small warm snotty eggs on the cold China plate, with the toast served on the side with cold butter pats for us to butter our toast and then move the eggs over, by which time the eggs were cold! No friendly service at all, on telling family about our experience we were told, we should have warned you to not stop there!

As I live in the adjoining village, I recently booked a night in the family room for a visiting friend & his 3 children which was spacious, clean & reasonably priced, so all well & good. However their breakfast the following morning bought the whole experience down with a resounding thump! I went into the cafe to join them, but as they had been allocated a table seating only 4 there wasn't room for me. I ordered a drink then as the seats are fixed & therefore immovable, I asked one of the staff if I could bring an individual chair over from another section to put at the end of their table. I was told no, so sat on a seat at the table of 6 alongside them. I was then informed by another staff member that I couldn't sit there as it was a table for 6 & had been cleaned already. I then asked if in that case my friends could just pick up their plates etc & move across to the table for 6 & the problem would be solved. The response from the same staff member was no as she'd already cleaned that table & wasn't going to clean it again & as my friends had already been allocated the table for four, that was where they had to stay!!!! It is at this point that I walked out.. While I appreciate that Covid regulations mean the hospitality industry has to take hygiene issues seriously & it has created a lot of extra work, I found the attitude of this staff member completely unacceptable. There were no customers besides us, meaning none of the other tables were being used & it would have take no great effort to clean two tables an extra time. Food & drink outlets are complaining about low customer numbers due to Covid, but with this sort of attitude the A35 Pitstop only has itself to blame!! They lost out on my custom plus further custom from my friends & needless to say I won't be using this facility again..

Spotlessly clean, simple bedroom, with tea/coffee facilities and bathroom with bath and shower over. Towels and shampoo etc provided. Friendly and helpful staff. Good value rooms for the area. Plenty of parking, just next to a cafe, petrol station and shop which is also handy.
