We popped in while our dog was at the groomers and were given a lovely warm welcome. The food was delicious (definitely try the scones!) and the prices are very reasonable. This is a great place to stop for a quick coffee or stay longer for a bite to eat.

Perfect Cappacinos, lovely quirky spotted cups, gorgeous Cappacino, the best, hot at last, as some other cafes are not and so delicious, best had in town! The Scones were perfect inside not dry, couldn,t have been better, just as good as the drink and good prices. Will use here every time Im in town. Seats outside front, inside and back courtyard for a sunny day. Friendly waitress too :-) very comfortable for a solo customer

I needed a late lunch and this place was still open at 2.50pm. We sat in a quiet but very shabby courtyard. I'd a bacon and cheese toastie with a side salad and coleslaw, my wife had an onion Baji toastie with salad and coleslaw. Tasty. We shared a pot of tea. £8 for each sandwich was more expensive than expected, considering the rough ambience. No sign of the Sour Cow name nowadays.

What a little gem. We (four adults and a 12 year old) pitched up at 2pm on a Monday expecting the usual cafe offering, but were so delighted with our food: the bahji melt was delicious (vegan cheese available too), my daughter loved her chicken pesto deli sandwich and my partner said the New York style pastrami bagel was up there with the best he?d had. Coffee was good too. Exceeded our expectations and we left very happy!

Lovely dog friendly cafe. We had walked up to the Star Disc and on the way back down decided to stop off for a drink. Dog friendly and seemed to be very popular. We chose to sit outside with our dog and enjoyed drinks and scones. Can strongly recommend cheese scone!!

It?s only a small cafe so feels nice and cosy. It?s quite rustic looking. The food is made and prepared in the cafe part so you can smell it cooking.
The staff were really nice and the food was freshly cooked. The cakes looked and tasted great. The scones were huge! The toasted sandwiches were made with nice bread and came with a lovely side salad and delicious homemade coleslaw. The toasted sandwich was £8 but good value compared to many places and a very good portion size. It was delicious. My friends had the pecan and cinnamon cake as loved it

We went to Sour Cow because the reviews looked great on google! When we entered, we could see that the two ladies working were busy. However, it took them an uncomfortable amount of time to acknowledge we were there or let us know that they are working on getting us a table - we were just sort of stood in the doorway. It seemed as though we were inconveniencing them by being there (noticed another review mentioned the same). Just overall low quality service. In saying this, the food was great and came out really quick. I just think the service needs a little improvement to make it a more enjoyable experience.

Cups and coffee were nice, seemed like we were an inconvenience being there, but reading other reviews maybe it was just an off day.

Lovely food. The best scones in Wirksworth. Great coffee. Very friendly warm staff.
